--3rd PERSON POV--

The hum of David Sheild's diagnostic computer filled the dim lab with a constant rhythmic buzz. Toshinori Yagi, better known to the world as the mighty All Might, sat inside the exam capsule. His shrunken skeletal form betrayed none of the magnificence that had once defined him, though his stoic expression remained. Across the room, the scientist darted between stations, his frantic energy almost palpable as the digital line in the graph fell deeper and deeper into the ominous red zone.

"A constant decline!? No... no... no!" David yelled, his voice rising as his fingers flew across the keyboard. "These stats are beyond any recorded quirk deterioration! There's no precedent for this... none!"

Toshinori sat calmly in the diagnostic capsule as he sighed and rubbed the back of his neck. His gaunt frame looked even thinner under the harsh fluorescent lights, and the rhythmic beep of the monitors tracking his vitals kept reminding him grimly of his condition.

His eyes, though tired and surrounded by visible darkness, remained steady as they flicked to the large screen. The data told the story clearly enough... and he'd seen it coming long before Nighteye's gruesome prospect. The tipping point had been the day he'd fought All For One, the battle that had left his body irreparably damaged.

Yet the most damning change wasn't on any graph David had seen before. Almost exactly a year ago, Toshinori had done something he could never tell his old friend. He'd passed One For All, the immense and unique quirk he'd earned to inherit, to young Midoriya. It wasn't just his injuries or his age anymore. His time as the Symbol of Peace was only ending because he'd passed the torch.

Toshinori glanced at the latest projection that the data estimated. Another year, maybe less.

David wasn't done, his eyes were searching for answers as if Toshinori was the one at fault. "We were keeping up!" he shouted, pacing in front of the large monitor, "You were taking your supplements. Your tracker didn't record any unusual spikes or stress that could explain this! It doesn't make sense!"

"D─  Dave," Toshinori interrupted with a low rasp. He shifted uncomfortably, letting the glass capsule door slide open with a hiss. "You couldn't have predicted this. I've pushed myself harder than I should have. It could've been any number of─"

"I've monitored those!" David snapped, cutting him off. His eyes were sharp, determination mixed with desperation melded together in a panic. "Look right here!" He pinched the glowing screen and zoomed in on the data that highlighted key moments in Toshinori's recent history.

"Look at this. Ten months ago you were able to change the weather with a single punch. The readings registered a drop, but it wasn't catastrophic. And here... it cascaded further forty-six days after your battle with that bird-like villain. You pushed yourself beyond your limits, and the decline was uniform and consistent. This... this is different."
