Chapter 3
I awoke with a start, a monitor was beeping rapidly and soon nurses rushed in.
"Dear you need to get out really fast just in case something really bad is happening ok?" One of the nurses said in a rush. I didn't even respond as I walked out.
I sat on the floor by Greg's room for what seemed like forever until finally the nurses came out. One sat beside me and sighed.
"We're sorry to inform you dear that sadly, Greg has passed." She said in a kind of tone that made me realize she must have to tell people that all of the time.
I sat there silently sobbing, but no words were escaping because I was in too much shock. After awhile, I slowly got up and made my way out of the hospital. One of the nurses that saw me asked if they could drive me home. I shook my head no and just kept walking, I didn't live that far anyway.
Once I got inside the front door I made my way to my room and got into my bed and covered myself with my pink comforter. I despised it now, it was too cheerful. Too happy.
I laid in bed for the whole day and when night came, I drifted off into a restless sleep. The next morning I got up and made my way to check the mail, since I knew my dad wouldn't check it. After I got the mail I sat at the table to read all of it. I sighed when I saw one letter in particular, the enrollment forms for my Junior year at GreensBorrow High. Should I even enroll? Maybe I could just drop out until I felt able to do it. But then I mentally slapped myself, I had to do this year of school, even if it was without Greg.
After I filled out all of the information on the forms, I put them back in the mailbox to be taken the next day. I just settled down onto the couch to watch TV, when I heard a knock at the door. When I opened it, I saw a boy that looked roughly to be my age.
"Hey, I'm new to the area and I was wondering if you could maybe give me a basic tour of things, or maybe just point me in the right direction to a school named GreensBorrow, I need to enroll. Oh and by the way, I'm Jake." He smiled at me as he talked, I don't even know what he said because his smile was distracting me, it was too happy. He was too happy.
"I'm sorry, I can't help." I replied as I shrugged and shut the door in his face.
"But wait! You didn't even tell me your name!" He yelled through the door.
"It's Kaley." I replied, barely audible.
"That's a really nice name." He said softly as I heard him begin to walk away to where ever he came from.
