Chapter 7

It's been a week. A full week since I last saw Jake. That whole week I did nothing except sit around my house. School was starting soon, which meant I had to be around people I didn't even care about for hours Monday through Friday. I sighed and got up from my bed. Just as I was about to go to my bathroom, I heard the doorbell ring. I quickly went to it hoping to see Jake. But instead, I saw beautiful red roses and a letter. Oddly, it was addressed to me. Even though I had no clue as to who it was from. I got the roses and put them in a vase, then I grabbed the letter and sat on my couch to read it.

Dearest Kaley,

You are so beautiful and amazing and perfect. You make me smile so much and you make my life worth living. To you, it may seem like I'm put together and happy. I'm not. The only thing that makes me happy is you. Seeing your half smiles make me smile because I know that you are trying your hardest not to let yourself smile. It's so cute. This letter may seem strange, especially since you have no clue who sent it. Well, I guess we'll just have to leave it a mystery!

That whole letter confused me. Who could it be from? Was it Jake? But I thought he was mad at me. Also, there was no way he had these feelings about me. We just met not long ago! I felt a headache coming on so I set the letter down and decided to go relax with a nice shower.

After my shower, I decided to throw on some sweats and a t-shirt with sneakers and to go for a run. Halfway through my run I thought I saw Jake, but it couldn't have been him. I guess I'll never know because he never came close.

I was coming around the corner of my street when I saw Jake sitting on the front steps of my porch.

"Uh, Jake? What're you doing here?"

"Hey gorgeous, I just came by to talk and let you know why I haven't come around again." I blushed when he called me gorgeous, he couldn't have meant it, I probably was all sweaty and gross.

"Well, you can come in for awhile if you'd like, we can talk on my couch." I replied trying not to show how much him calling me gorgeous was affecting me.

Jake came in and he sat on my couch while I got us waters. After, I went to go sit by him.

"So, what's up?" I asked looking at him with a slight smile.

"Well I'm sorry I haven't come around since last week, trust me I really wanted to. I was having some family troubles and I didn't want to come see you when I was so angry and stuff. I only want you to see my happy side." Jake said in a rush.

"What kind of family troubles?"

"We can talk about that at a later time ok? I just wanna relax right now. Hey, wanna watch a movie?"

"Yea! Just pick one out and I'll go get us some snacks from my kitchen alright?" I replied. A movie with Jake? I hope it was just a friendly movie. I really was starting to form feelings for him and I didn't like it at all.
