Chapter 8

We were half way through the movie when I realized Jake had his arm draped across my shoulders. I tensed up and I think he noticed.

"Hey, are you okay?" He asked looking at me, his eyes filled with concern.

"Yea, I'm fine, everything's good." I replied quickly.

He got quiet so I glanced over at him, he looked hurt.

"What's wrong, Jake?" He looked at me and he had anger in his eyes.

"What do you mean what's wrong? The fact that I've liked you since the first day I met you, is what's wrong! I mean, it's obvious you don't even like me back and I just keep coming back and keep trying but I can see I shouldn't even try. I'm gonna go."

As Jake got up from the couch, I grabbed onto his shirt.

"Please stay? I do like you, I really do, but I can't be with you. Not now at least. I can't tell you why, but just stay, maybe I'll let you in one day and tell you, maybe." I replied starting to feel a burning sensation in my eyes. Oh no, please don't cry in front of him, just don't do it Kaley.

He quietly sat back down and faced me, he leaned in and gave me a tiny peck on the lips.

"Thank you for saying that you do like me. I'll stay." He whispered into my ear, then turned back to finish watching the movie.

My heart was beating like crazy, I hope he couldn't hear it. Oh my gosh that small kiss was amazing, I want him to kiss me again. No, I shouldn't be thinking these thoughts, especially since I told him we couldn't be together right now. This was all just so confusing.

The movie ended and Jake turned to me smiling.

"Hey, I think I'm gonna go okay?"

"No, please stay."

"Why?" He asked, confused.

"I want you to."

"That's good enough for me!"

So, I turned off the tv, and gestured for him to follow me. We made it to my room and Jake looked around a little.

"Uhh, so, if you want you can sleep in my bed with me, no funny business though. If you don't want to sleep with me, then I can make you a spot on the floor." I said looking up at him.

"I don't mind sharing with you, but I promise I won't pull any funny business, we'll just sleep." He replied smiling at me while he got into my bed and made himself comfortable.

I slowly got into bed next to him, then covered up and laid my head on his chest.

"Kaley?"

"Yes Jake?"

"I hope you have a good nights sleep, and sweet dreams."

I lifted my head up to look at him, gently, I leaned in to kiss him. After, I just laid my head on his chest again.

"You too Jake, sweet dreams."
