Chapter 16

I woke about an hour ago. Jake wasn't here, so that sucks. The nurses told me that I had to stay for at least a couple more hours to make sure I was alright. Ugh, I was just ready to leave. Just as I was about to close my eyes to rest, in walked Jake, oh great.

"Kaley! You're awake!"

"Obviously."

"I'm sorry I wasn't here when you woke up, Emma wanted to go to the beach." Ohhhh, so that was her name, glad to know it finally.

"No, it's fine. I understand, she's your girlfriend."

"Actually, you didn't let me finish. I broke up with her. I want you Kaley." Jake replied as he walked swiftly towards me and grabbed my face. Our lips met and instantly everything felt better. But I broke off the kiss quickly.

"What do you mean? Why would you break up with her? She's like Ms. Perfect." I asked, still inches away from his face.

"She's too bossy. Besides, she's not you Kaley." That made my heart beat wildly and I grabbed him and pulled his lips to mine again. We were in a heated make out session, his tongue was begging access to meet my tongue, so I let him in. Let me tell you, as soon as our tongues met, my body exploded with sparks all over. It felt like everything in the world was okay now, like Jake was what I was searching for. Everything felt...right.

I was finally back in my room at Jake's house and laying in my bed was like heaven. Just as my eyes were starting to close and my body was starting to give in to sleep, Jake burst in without knocking.

"Hey gorgeous."

"Where were you?" I asked. I know, I know, I already sound like the crazy obsessive girlfriend. But I couldn't help it, my curiosity got the better of me.

"Out. But it doesn't matter now, I'm here with the best girl in the whole world." He replied as he came to lay down next to me. I snuggled up to his chest and felt instantly safe. But it was still sort of weird how he didn't really answer my question. Eh, I'm sure it was nothing.

"Hey, we need to get to bed soon, we've still got school you know."

"Ugh, I know."

"You can sleep in here if you would like..." I said quietly.

"I would love to." Jake replied as he leaned down to peck me quickly on the lips. I didn't reply as I snuggled even closer and fell into a deep, comfortable sleep.

Lunch time. My least favorite part of the school day. Everyone was giving me weird looks and whispering.

"Did you hear about Kaley?"

"She totally tried to kill herself."

"Well I mean, who would even miss her?"

"Well apparently that Jake guy is her boyfriend, so he would miss her."

"Ha! I heard he's cheating on her."

"I would too, she's not even cute."

That whole conversation hurt me, but I kept walking to my table with my lunch. I sat down next to a smiling Jake who quickly enveloped me in a big hug.

"What are you so smiley about?"

"Just happy to see my beautiful girlfriend."

"Well I don't know how you can be happy with all these people here talking about us. Mainly me. But you too."

"What are they saying?"

"Well, about how I tried to kill myself, how no one would miss me, and, howtheythinkyourecheatingonme..."

"What was that last part?"

"How they all think you're cheating on me!" I yelled back.

"Woah, calm down, babe, I'm not cheating on you. You're my one and only."

I didn't reply, just scooted closer to him because I honestly did believe him. Would I regret this later?
