"Anthony? Anthony! Stay awake, please! I can see the help now! They're on their way, just... don't leave me, Anthony."

I begged my boyfriend to stay awake as his eyes fluttered shut. He has already lost so much blood from the wound on his side that I couldn't make him stay anymore. The grip of his hand, covered in his blood, stayed tight on mine, which told me that he was thankfully still alive.

A second later, two ambulances, a police car, and a firetruck arrived on the scene of our car crash. The crew of one ambulance hopped out and ran to us.

"He's in here!" I shouted, moving out of their way so they could reach Anthony. They struggled to open the mangled door and called over a fireman with a giant claw-like machine I heard them call 'the jaws of life'. I became light-headed and sat down on the curb, pulling my knees up to my face. The crew of the other ambulance came to my aid.

"Were you the driver of this vehicle?" the paramedic asked me.

I looked up and nodded. "Y-yes sir," I responded through sobs.

"Are you hurt in any way?"

I felt around my body to see if I could feel any pain or blood. I felt some soreness and found some glass on my clothes, but I had nothing else to worry about. "No sir, I feel fine."

"This blood, did it come from your passenger?"

I nodded again, then cried harder as I saw the other crew pull Anthony out of my car.

"Since we don't know if you have any internal damage, you have to be laid on a stretcher anyway. I will be right back, everything will be okay young man." One paramedic ran to the ambulance while the other stayed by my side to comfort me.

I watched the other crew put Anthony on the stretcher and in the back of the ambulance. My crew returned and did the same to me, and at that moment my phone began to ring.

"Anthony Sondoman - GaLm," the caller ID read. With the medics' permission, I answered his call.

"GaLm?"

"Steven, are you guys okay? We've been at Chilled's for at least the last ten minutes."

"GaLm," I started again, my voice breaking. "Anthony and I were in a terrible car accident a few minutes ago. I'm being put in one ambulance while the other just took him away."

There was silence on his end. "Is Anthony okay?"

"I don't know. He's lost so much blood and he passed out before help could arrive. We're on our way to the hospital now. I'm scared, GaLm. I can't lose my Chilly Willy." Saying his nickname actually hurt me for once. It hurt because my first thought was, "I may never call him that again."

"It'll be okay, Steven. We'll be down there ASAP. We'll tell Anthony's family too."

"Thank you so much, GaLm. See you then." I hung up and cried again, after so many times in one night that I lost count.

I stared at the bright roof of the ambulance, remembering the spotlight from barely a couple hours before. Anthony and I were so happy to be winners, happy to be alive. It felt like such a distant memory as the image of the oncoming headlights crossed my mind. I thought about Anthony, and how hard he was fighting to live.

"Alright, young man, I need to ask you a few questions," the paramedic began. "First, state your name, age, birthday, and occupation."

"Steven Royale, 16, April 12, student."
