Chapter THIRTY-FOUR

"Everything's ready?" Ni-ki asked ensuring that our luggages and things are already at the living room. The cab will pick us up in 10 minutes.

"Ma'am, I actually have something for you." I put out a pot with juliet rose plant as well as the seeds in case she wants to plant more.

"Babe, where did that come from?" Ni-ki asked with furrowed eyebrows.

"I bought it yesterday, the flower reminds me of Mrs. Nishimura so I wanted to give it to her."

Mrs. Nishimura took it from me looking so amazed, "Thank you dear. This is so sweet of you."

"Thank you so much for your hospitality during our stay here. Ni-ki is right, he really has a kind family. I also baked some goods and it's on your fridge. Thank you again ma'am." I bowed down to give respect.

Mrs. Nishimura cupped both of my cheeks, "Just call me mom."

I smiled and gave her a warm hug.

"We will miss you, unnie. Will you be back here?" Misola looked at me with puppy eyes.

"Of course. Your brother and I will be back here again and we'll stay longer." I hugged her back when she gave me a hug on the waist.

"Thank you for spending time with us, Serena and thank you for making my brother happy." Konon said with nodded.

I opened my arms to welcome her in a hug and she did. Suddenly, we heard a honk of the car. The cab must be outside already.

"Babe, the cab's here." Ni-ki said and dragged both of our luggages. I carried my hand bag and they all followed us outside.

"Riki, Serena, take care okay? Riki, can you text me when you get home safely?" Mrs. Nishimura said on the door.

"I will, ma. Love you."

"See you soon mom! Konon and Misola!" I said and waved goodbye to them.

Even we're in the car, they were waving their goodbyes to us until they're no longer visible on our eyes. As soon as everything sinked in, I cried. Ni-ki immediately noticed so he pulled me closer to him to comfort me.

"Are you making onigri?" I asked mom while she prepares the ingredients.

"Yes. Would you like to help me?"

"Yes ma."

While I was helping mom with making night snacks, she said something that made my heart melt, "She's a keeper."

I looked at mom with a surprised face, "Really? You think so?"

"I've seen how she treats your sisters, she's a natural. I'm happy you brought her here. Are you really happy with her?"

"Very."

"Then I'm happy." She smiled at me and patted my hand.

"Ma, can I talk to you for a second?" I asked mom and she followed while Serena's busy washing the dishes.

"Yes Riki?"

"I have a request for you, if that's okay, can Serena sleep in my room tonight?" She was about to react, probably disagree but I interrupted her instantly, "No funny business I swear. I'm not that person you raised, ma. I just want to spend my last night here with her."

She let out a sigh of relief and nodded, "Okay sure."

My smile widened in victory and pulled my mom in a hug, "Thank you mom."
