Chapter FIFTY-FIVE
"You are looking extra groggy today, what's up with you?" My friend, Julius, greeted me with an eyebrow raised.
Since I opened my business here in Colorado, I hired Julius to help me since I am still under medical treatment for my asthma. My doctor said my lungs has weakened so I can't be tired all the time.
I slouched down while still zoning out, "I'm fine."
"Clearly, you're not. You need to tell me if you are feeling unwell girl, don't scare me."
To be honest, I couldn't sleep well last night after finding out Ni-ki is the new COO of Black Revel. It was the first time I saw him after 3 years and he looks so well. He looks successful and after everything, it seemed like his hardwork has paid off.
"I'm too lazy to work today..." I whined, still not moving on my seat.
"You can go home if you want, I'll take care of it for today. By the way, we received an invitation to be one of the food booths in an event. It's on friday."
"Okay." was all I said, my mind still floating somewhere.
When I snapped back to reality, I decided to go to the restroom to wash my face. I stayed for 5 minutes, staring at my reflection on the mirror. For the past 3 years, I lost tons of weight. Maybe aside from my medication, it was the stress, overthinking and unending problems that made me look like my age multipled by three.
I let out a sigh before going out of the restroom but as soon as I stepped out, there was a familiar guy on the counter ordering with his side facing me.
I know him.
My eyes widened when I realized it was Jay. I cannot be wrong.
When he was about to see me, I quickly turned back around and walk back to the restroom.
"Girl!" I heard Julius called out.
"Stomachache!" I said before going inside the restroom again.
What is Jay doing here? Does he know that this is my bakery? I know that he is from U.S but I never expected we will meet here! I haven't seen any of the boys for the past 3 years! I've lost contact with them, remember?
I waited for 10 minutes before slowly opening the door and taking a peek but Jay is nowhere to be seen.
"Julius!" I whispered-yelled.
Julius approached me with furrowed eyebrows, "What are you doing?"
"Did that customer leave?" I asked.
"Who?"
"The guy!"
"Oh the handsome guy...yes. He left. Why? You know him?"
I felt a pang of relief before stepping out of the restroom and walking back to the counter.
"...Hello? Do you know that guy?" Julius asked again while following me.
"No."
"Then why did you panic when you saw him?"
"I didn't."
My replies were short but very obvious that I was denying it. I didn't want to explain further to Julius, I don't want him finding out about Ni-ki either. Everything just stays in my memory.
"You're acting sus--"
"Hi! Can I have an extra lid please?"
Shit. Jay came back. But my back is facing him so now I can't turn around.
