Chapter FOURTY-EIGHT

The room was quiet, save for the sound of our breathing, heavy and in sync. My heart raced as I gaze up to Ni-ki, his presence so close she could feel the heat from his body. His hands rested on either side of me, trapping me gently but with a possessiveness that made my pulse quicken.

"Honey, it's mom. We're at your house but no one's home. Sorry for the sudden visit. Where are you?"

They're here?! I thought they will come by next month?

I texted her back: "It's so sudden. I'm coming."

Without hesitation, I started making my way home. I need to explain to them where I'm currently staying. Why would she try to surprise me anyway? She could've told me they're coming.

When I arrived at my apartment, there's no one there. My eyebrows furrowed in confusion so I took out my phone and texted mom.

"Where are you? I'm here."

But I received no reply. This time, I called the number and it rang a few times before it was picked up.

"Next time, don't trust strangers."

My heart dropped at the unfamiliar deep voice, "What?"

Before I could run, there was strong grip on my arm and a cloth pinned on my nose, making me hard to breathe and suddenly sniffing the unfamiliar scent that made me dizzy.

"The boss the is waiting for her."
