Chapter FIFTY-SIX
I quickly looked away as soon as our eyes met. I lowered my gaze and and quickly walked back to the booth.
"I want to leave." I told Julius.
"Excuse me?" He was confused.
"I can't stay here anymore."
I am starting to panic since Ni-ki saw me. This wasn't meant to happen. He's not suppose to see me nor know where I live. He's suppose to go along with his life without me anymore. Ugh.
First, Jay. Then now, Ni-ki. Isn't this stupid world big enough for our paths to not cross again?
"Stacey and I are business partners. That's all I have to say." I heard Ni-ki speaks through the mic before leaving the stage.
His eyes didn't search for me anymore. He just walked down the stage, fixed his suit and went back to his table. I hope he thought he was just seeing things.
The event is already over. Everyone already left including Ni-ki. Julius and I are now disassembling our booth when a man with in a formal attire and earpiece approached me...
"Can I help you?" I asked while crouched down, in the middle of putting our things in the box.
"Are you Serena?"
Julius and I both looked at each other before I turn my gaze back to the man, "Yes."
"Please follow me."
Before I could ask another question, he already started walking away. Who is that man and what does he want?
"Text me if something happens." Julius said before signaling me to go.
I was confused but my feet managed to follow the man. He pressed the elevator and went inside and I didn't even noticed that I am already in the elevator as well.
"Sir? Excuse me? Where are we going?" I asked.
"Please relax. Nothing is going to happen to you." His expression is stoic as a rock.
Am I being lead to another kidnapping scene or what?
We arrived at the deck of this building but as soon as the elevator opens, he didn't even get out. He just motioned for me to go out.
"Sorry? Why am I--"
"Please exit the elevator and go straight left. Someone is waiting for you."
My eyebrows furrowed in more confusion but I stepped out of the elevator and the elevator shuts closed. I scanned the area and there's no one around. Was he playing with me?
I followed his instruction and went to the left. My eyes are still scanning everywhere when I noticed a tall figure not far from where I was standing.
No...it couldn't be...
Plan A.
This person I have already expected turn around and finally saw me. His gaze softened as soon as his eyes met mine as if he wanted to cry. My heart is beating faster than it should be, as if it's about to burst anytime soon.
He started walking aggressively towards me with his stoic face but before I could react, he already pulled me towards him and wrap his arms around my neck, pulling me into his tight embrace.
As soon as I felt Ni-ki's warm body against mine, I wanted to cry. To melt in his arms and hug him back and tell him I miss him so much.
"Serena..."
Finally, my name escaped his lips in a low, calming voice. I miss his voice.
"I miss you so much..." He added, hiding his face on the crook of my neck.
My arms stayed on my sides, fighting the urge of hugging him back. I'm so sorry Ni-ki...
"Who are you?" I asked.
He slowly pulled away, looking at me in the eyes with his hands on my shoulders, "What?"
"I'm confused, who are you? What's going on?" I asked again while slowly removing his grip from my shoulders.
"No....you're kidding." He smirked sarcastically, shaking his head.
"I'm sorry, I don't know who you are. You must've mistaken me for someone else." My face remained confused and composed while fighting demons inside. I have to make it look like I really don't know him.
There's no way out.
"It's me, Ni-ki! This is me! This is me love..." Those last words softened while trying to carress my cheeks. His voice pleading.
I pulled his hand away and shook my head, "I'm sorry but I don't know you at all. I am happily in relationship already, please don't bother me anymore."
I turned my back from him and started walking away when I heard him yell, "Stop lying! I know it's you Serena! I know you!"
I turned again to face him, "You are mistaking me for my twin sister! She's dead!"
His eyes widened in shock, "W-What are y--"
"My twin sister, Serena, died 3 years ago. I am not her, I am Helena."
"No...why are you lying to me? Why? Wh--" Ni-ki looked like he either wanted to cry or get angry. He is showing different type of emotions right now.
I know. But this is for the best. He is living the best life without me...
"Serena died from kidnapping 3 years ago. She was killed. We only found out later. I know it's hard to accept but you have to move on, now that you know the truth. I hope to never see you again. Goodbye." I said coldly and started walking away, leaving Ni-ki standing there confused and hurt.
I pressed the elevator and as soon as I got in, I bursted into tears. I couldn't hold it in anymore. I missed Ni-ki so much...he looked way different now, he looked more matured than 3 years ago....I know that he was doing good already. And this is the reason why I didn't want our paths crossing again.
When I went back to the venue, it was only Julius left there, waiting for me. I knew he was about to get annoyed when he saw my swollen, red eyes.
"What happened?!" He asked in concern.
"Let's go, Julius."
"Did someone hurt you?! I swear I will ki--"
"No. I'll explain later, let's just go now."

With a heavy heart, I went to the car waiting for me. The car ride back to the mansion was pure silence and deep thoughts.
How could Serena do this to me? Why would she lie? I don't understand... she was the one who left me and now she's lying?
"My twin sister, Serena, died 3 years ago. I am not her, I am Helena."
Helena huh? I don't know what game you are trying to play Serena but we'll see. Because it won't be Ni-ki who will see you next time, it will be Noa.
