Chapter Ninety-Nine: Taiko Meijin's Match of Love(Part One)

[A Few Days Later]

There they were, heading to a shrine for the day. Subaru drove his car since Dr. Agasa's car was filled with kids. Ryo had ridden with Dr. Agasa and the kids so that he wouldn't miss out on the fun. Yuki yawns as she remembers Ryo waking them up early to go on this trip.

"You think that Ryo's okay?" Subaru asks.

"You mean after that nightmare this morning?" Yuki asks, "He hasn't cried like that in a while."

[Flashback]

Yuki laid peacefully in bed with Shuichi hugging her. He had turned the voice changer off last night while the family spent time together as usual. They'd put Ryo to bed then headed to bed themselves. Yuki slept with a smile on her face as Shuichi held her. Early in the morning, just before dawn, Ryo came running into the room partially from a nightmare and partially from the fact that he was excited for the trip today.

"Mommy! Daddy! Wake up!" Ryo squeals and Shuichi opens his eyes first as he was a light sleeper due to always having to watch his back and he looks at Ryo.

"Ryo, your mommy is sleeping still and it's not even daylight yet." Shuichi says. Ryo sniffles and Shuichi looks at him as Ryo starts crying, making Yuki wake up. Yuki whimpers from waking up.

"I wasn't yelling at you, Ryo, what's wrong?" Shuichi asks as he freaks out and sits up and hugs Ryo.

"I had a nightmare, Daddy!" Ryo cries out. Shuichi soothes his hair down.

"You know for a fact that your mommy and I won't let anything happen to you." Shuichi reminds him.

'He must be upset from being held as a hostage recently.' Shuichi's thoughts say and he hugs him to calm him down.

"What happened in your dream?" Shuichi asks.

"A big monster was trying to eat me!" Ryo cries out.

'Or not...' Shuichi's thoughts comment.

"That scary monster is going to have to get through me!" Yuki declares over Shuichi's thoughts and makes an angry, determined expression. Shuichi and Ryo look at her. She looked about as intimidating as a rabbit. Shuichi looks at Ryo who looks at him. Ryo starts laughing as he was thinking the same thing.

"Why are you two laughing?" Yuki asks. Shuichi smirks at her.

"Because you're about as intimidating as a rabbit, my little snow bunny." Shuichi tells her. Yuki gasps and her cheeks flush red from embarrassment and a tiny tinge of anger.

"You take that back!" Yuki states.

"But mommy, it's true." Ryo replies, "Daddy's scarier than you. He makes grown men pee their pants."

"Oh? And when did he do that?" Yuki asks.

"In the car when he was saving Aunt Jodie, Uncle Andre and me." Ryo responds and Shuichi looks away from Yuki's slight glare.

"My point being. Mommy and Daddy won't let any monster get you. I swear." Yuki promises.

"Really?" Ryo asks.

"Really." Shuichi replies as he wraps his arms around Ryo and Yuki. He hugs his family.

"I love you, mommy, daddy!" Ryo exclaims.

"And we love you." Shuichi tells him.

"What time is it?" Yuki asks and checks the time, "Early. Well, since we're awake, we might as well get ready to go to the shrine."

"Ah, yeah, that's right." Shuichi agrees. Ryo climbs down and runs out of the room to get ready.

"Ryo, don't run." Shuichi scolds lightly and is about to get up to make sure Ryo picked a warm enough outfit when Yuki suddenly grabs hold of him around his shoulders, holding him down. He smiles at her and hugs her back.
