Chapter 0: Part 10 - Trust is earned

Rory and Billy's house

The couple makes haste towards their friends' house, not a second to waste considering how much remains a mystery. Safety isn't guaranteed now that the librarian is aware of their plan to find Richard, and her knowledge of the situation makes everything far more complicated, since she's hasn't achieved many answers despite being on the issue from the beginning.

They knock on the door.

Knock. Knock. Knock.
Step. Step. Step.
Unlock. Creak.

Rory: "Ayyy, look who came 'round!! Chuffed to see ya haven't ripped each other to bits."
Reyna: "No, but we were close." - She glances at Kayden, who rolls his eyes with a smirk.
Kayden: "Morning Rory, we're looking for Mell and Amina, you seen 'em?"
Rory: "Not since yesterday, no. Everythin' alright?"
Reyna: "Kayden wants to apologize for what he did."
Kayden: "I shouldn't have slapped Mell like that, and essentially given Hina hope to come back for me."
Rory: "Are you sure? I think it was brilliant." - Reyna's arms cross as a frown accompanies a popping hip. "I don't know what any of us would've done in your place."
Kayden: "It could've been better handled."
Rory: "Porkies!! She's a nutcase, Kayden. Nothing but nutter-like treatment can nip it."
Reyna: "Maybe you should do it next time then, since it seems to be to your liking."
Rory: "Fuckin' hell, Reyna. None of you can stop giving me earfuls, can ya? She wanted nothin' to do with me. In case ya missed it, I got respectfully launched out of the room with a mighty kick to me guts! That should be enough to tell ya how much she wanted me there."

There's silence for a moment.

Rory: "Come inside for a cuppa."
Reyna: "We'd love to, but there's no time to waste."
Rory: "How come?"
Kayden: "We're thinking of going to the house again. There's a few rooms we didn't check."
Rory: "That an invite?"
Reyna: "Only if you want it to be."
Rory: "Right then! I'll be a few minutes."

He shuts the door.

Kayden: "Can't you just let us in while we wait?"
Rory: "No."
Kayden: "The heck? Why the hell not?"
Rory: "Didn't you say you're in a hurry?"
Kayden: "I did, but at least you could let us inside."
Rory: "Yeah right, lazy sod. See it through and keep yourself entertained 'till I'm ready. I won't be long."
Kayden: "Tch. Fine... And I'm not lazy! English prick.." - He murmurs.

As they wait outside for a moment, Reyna occasionally throws Kayden stealthy glances, through the rampage of thoughts causing nothing but confusion. Despite noticing this, the man can't do much about it. They have talked it out. It has passed. This is nothing but a build-up of anxiety, brewing from a set of events that has never occurred.

The mind is indeed powerful, especially for the development of negativity.
When the door creaks once again, Reyna's glare lifts to her friend, who turns the key in the lock behind himself.

Kayden: "Where's Billy?"
Rory: "In the Leisure District. Situation's takin' a toll on him so he's chillin' there for the day."
Kayden: "Fair enough, it is a bit rough around the edges."
Rory: "A bit? The whole thing's a spanner in the works, mate."
Kayden: "And it seems to be far from over."
Rory: "Ya don't say. Let's go figure this out then."
