As Roman walked out of the suburban ghetto that is Compton, he walked into the more entertaining side of the county. He walked along the darkened streets and occasionally his leather jacket and black jeans were lit up by the hanging heads of the street lamps that guarded both sides of the roads which swerved across Compton. He watched as couples, men, women and the occasional teenager stumbled across the street and passed him. They look at me as if I'm the one they should be scared of. Roman continued to be confused. The smell on him surely wasn't that bad? He tried his best to mask it with deodorant. His scar didn't help either, the reminder of love's hate destroyed his face, to him, it covered every inch of his face. However, to everyone else, it only reached his brow. Roman sat down on a park bench next to a teenager who was face down, he looked at him and chuckled. He lit a cigarette and continued to watch the now empty streets. He sat in wonder as people still continued to cross the street to pass him. He looked down and realised how is attire could be seen as threatening, he was wearing his old Mafia jacket which had the name stretched across the back and whirled around the arms were two snakes. He reached into his pocket and placed a small beanie. He looked around to see if anyone was approaching before he threw his dying cigarette into the bin.

He nudged at the drunken teen. The only reply was a loud grunt and a low-pitched murmur.
"Hey, kid, you should probably get home to your parents, I bet they're looking for you" Roman's accent really stood out. The teenager groaned and sat up.
"I doubt they do" the teen growled
"Oh I bet they do, do they give you money for clothes?" Roman asked
"Well, yeah" the teen replied
"Do they feed you?"
"Of course"
"Then they care, even if it seems just a little, they do . So how about you do them a favour and get home, huh?"
"I don't know how to get home, my friends ditched me here and I don't know where to go"
"Where do you live?"
"Inglewood, about a 3 hour walk, that's all I know"
"How do you know that?"
"We walked here"
"Why don't you get a cab?"
"No money or phone, pricks must've mugged me"
"Let me call you a cab and give you the money, huh?"
"That'd be great thanks" the teen shook Romans hand and then they exchanged smells via a drunken hug from the teen. Minutes later Roman called a cab and got in with the teen, he dropped the teen at his house and went home to the closest public hostel himself. The time is 2am I doubt they'll take me in but it's worth a shot. Roman knocked on the and had no answer so after a few attempts he decided to climb onto the roof of a small garage which was attached to the left side of the hostel. He used his jacket as a pillow and slowly fell asleep and his final thought before he fell asleep was. Still better than the Mafia.
