Life went on as it did. This cruel and nasty world would not let things slow down; would not let people mourn for what was lost. Curses upon curses, evil upon evil, missions upon missions...life in the Jujutsu world was agony. After last year, after Riko, after learning that devastating truth about her own family and cursed technique, Hitomi hadn't really had a lot of time to stop and think; to stop and mourn.
Maybe it was for the best. Considering how everyone was slowly drifting apart, she couldn't even go through her friends. Shoko, she could probably talk to. But Gojo and Geto? Their conversations were few and far between now. The Strongest Duo was always busy with missions, much more than her.
Days like today were rare and Hitomi treasured them. And even if she had to go on a mission right afterwards...well, she would much rather be with her best friends than deal with some stupid grade 2 curse. The sun was shining bright and the sky was a gorgeous blue with a few clouds hovering about.
Hitomi had a pencil in her hand, while Shoko had a pen and Geto an eraser. Gojo was standing a few feet away from them, ready to be tested on his Infinity.
"Here we go," Shoko announced, just as all three of them tossed the stationery in their hand at Gojo. Just a few centimeters away from his face, the pencil, the pen and the eraser all bounced off an invisible barrier. Gojo caught all three things in his hand with ease.
"Yeah," Gojo nodded with a smile. "It's working."
"What the heck was that?" Hitomi looked at him, shocked. That was Infinity, but there was something much different about it.
"Automatic selection of targets for your jujutsu technique?" Geto said.
"Yup," Gojo nodded. "Though, to be precise, I'm the target for the technique. I've automated what I used to do manually. Now, it can discern an object's danger level based on the strength of its cursed energy, its mass, its velocity, and its shape. I'd like to get it to discern poisons, too, but that's still proving difficult. This will allow me to keep my Limitless technique active almost perpetually with minimal resources."
"Having it perpetually active will fry your brain," Shoko plainly remarked.
"But I can also keep running the reverse cursed technique with the energy I generate on my own. So I'm constantly giving it a fresh brain to work with. I'd already been working on shortening my hand seals. That's nailed now, too. So I can also activate multiple instances of Blue and Red simultaneously. The only remaining hurdles are Domain Expansion and teleportation over long distances. I should be able to get that down if we set up some courses without any obstacles in Jujutsu High. Shoko, could you lend me some lab rats?"
Shoko made a face, but nodded. As the two boys started conversing with each other, she turned towards Hitomi. "You good?"
"Oh I'm good," Hitomi immediately lied, holding onto the strap of her worn-out backpack. Because she was not good. "Just annoyed that I have to go on two missions one after the other. The higher-ups are out to get me."
