Mary's voice cut through the air, sharp and demanding as she walked away from the group in the living room. Dean followed after her, half-dragging Jovi along as she stumbled over her own feet. Everything around her was starting to spin, like some sick carnival ride she hadn't actually signed up for.
Dean, of course, wasn't about to let Mary have the upper hand in the interrogation. "What are you doing here?" he shot back, eyes narrowing in that classic Dean Winchester way — like he was seconds away from either throwing a punch or throwing up his hands in frustration.
Sam, ever the peacekeeper, took it upon himself to answer. "We, uh... Asa was a friend of a friend. Uh, friend of Jody's." He gestured to the woman beside him, Jody, who looked thoroughly confused — understandable, considering how much weird supernatural family drama was unfolding in real-time. Jovi didn't blame her. It had been a long and stupidly complicated day for everyone.
"Jody, Mary. Mom, this is Jody Mills," Sam introduced, trying to keep things civil.
Jody's eyes went wide. "Mom? Wait, m—your mom?"
Jovi hummed. "Yep. Grandma Winchester's back."
Dean sent her a warning side-eye that all but screamed please shut the hell up, while Mary's gaze flicked to her with a raised, questioning eyebrow. Dean, looking incredibly done, just muttered, "Yeah."
Jody kept staring at Mary like she'd just seen a ghost, which, to be fair, wasn't that far from the truth. "I thought—I thought you were—"
"I was," Mary replied with a small, almost sheepish smile.
Jody blinked. And then, suddenly, she burst with excitement. "W-wow! It is so nice to meet you!"
Before Mary could react, Jody pulled her into a hug.
Mary, caught completely off guard, awkwardly patted Jody's back like someone who had never once experienced physical affection. Jody eventually pulled away, glancing at the Winchesters — who, to no one's surprise, all had varying degrees of emotionally constipated expressions on their faces. Well, except for Jovi, who was more focused on just staying upright.
