𝑱𝒐𝒗𝒊 𝒇𝒆𝒍𝒕 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒔𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒔 losing her goddamn mind.

First, her dad allegedly dies — because apparently, that's just something that happens in her life annually. Then she gets kidnapped and tortured like it's another Tuesday, her mother suddenly decides to resurface after years of being MIA, and Lucifers back in the picture as he refuses to take a damn vacation from tormenting her family. And now? Her grandmother, abandons them by choice. Not to mention their last case with the Petersons that had been tormenting her for days.

Could her month get any worse?

Yes. Yes, it absolutely could.

She lay sprawled out on her bed, staring at the ceiling, arms spread like she was waiting for divine intervention. It was a cruel joke at this point. How was it that people her age were worrying about prom dates and college applications while she was out here dodging death, demons, and literal family drama from hell?

Why couldn't she just be normal?

As if Chuck himself heard her, her phone buzzed on the nightstand, vibrating against the wood like an annoying little reminder that life never stopped for her. She grabbed it without looking, sighing when she saw the name flashing on the screen.

Kat.

Jovi furrowed her brows before answering. "Hello?"

"Jovi! Thank God. So, I might just have the best pitch ever," Kat said, the background noise making it clear she was walking around. Probably pacing in excitement, like she always did when she had a so-called brilliant idea.

Jovi frowned. "Okay...?"

"You remember Jordan, right?"

Jovi blinked. A face popped into her mind, vaguely familiar. Tall, maybe? Brown hair? She was pretty sure he sat somewhere in the back of her Biology class.

"I guess?"

"Well, he's throwing this party—big deal, junior year, all that. Everyone's going," Kat continued, her excitement practically radiating through the phone. "So, my pitch is...I come get you, and we go to this party. Sound good?"
