The clashing of swords rings throughout camp, green and gold trading blows as either one dodge and shift around the trees.

"Nice one!" Riley comments, responding to a clever play with his own swordmaster tricks.

Just across from the two, Tyler balances one one hand in nought but his shorts.

Koda practises parkour between the trunks, passing by a similarly focused Shelby throwing punches and kicks at her dummies. As things wind down, ranger after ranger stop to rest and join both Chase, clad in suit, and Ms Morgan, clad in regular clothes.

"Ms Morgan, I get training's important, but you want me to fly through that concrete wall?" The kiwi questions.

"Correct." She affirms. "The Dino Armour X jaws are designed to be that tough. It works with black energem power."

"So why is the charger orange? Does it not work with orange energem power?" Tyler asks as he throws a shirt on.

"We've tried." Ms Morgan sighs. "Theoretically, it should - as it thrives on patience and intuitivity-"

Riley buts in, "So all the things Chase isn't?"

"-but," she gives a look before continuing, "it was the black energem that matched the energy signature of the Dino Armour X charger. For whatever reason, it's more responsive to Chase's energy than Eliott's."

At the mention of Eliott's name, Chase glances around, noting his absence. "Speaking of, where is he?"

*Eliott pov

"Are you sure I couldn't join my mates for staff training?" I complain as myself and my uncle enter the white concrete jungle.

"It's your cat Eliott, and I already emailed your boss dude, you're fine." Nathan responds.

'Ew, "dude"?'

"You absolutely did not just call me dude. Disgusting behaviour." I cringe, facepalming. I try my best to forget it as we approach the front desk, where a young lady sits at reception.

"Hello there, how can I help you?" The woman asks in a vaguely southern tone.

"We've got a booking for little fella's worm and flea treatments. Should be under the name Puss." I state, hearing a detatched meow from the carrier in my left hand.

The lady punches the keys on her computer before directing us to the room, which we leave for promptly. As we turn the corridoor, a distinct bleep comes from my coat pocket and I still.

Nathan hadn't heard the sound and keeps walking for a moment. I stride up to him and all but shove the carrier into his arms. "Work emergency, you'll have to take him sorry!" I hurry to say as I ignore his protests and leave quickly, pulling my comm from my pocket as I sprint out of the building.

"Alien biosigns nearby. The others are already on their way." Ms Morgan's voice plays out through the speaker.

"Got it, but you need to time these better." I comment before taking off in the direction of the coordinates she sent me.
