I watch with intrigue as the kiwi children wrap up their dance routine, clapping along following the rest of the room.
I notice in particular Chase's little sister Chloe beaming at her older brother. My attention shifts as Heather takes the stand, assuming what would normally be Ms Morgan's role, but considering she's also maori? Makes sense.
"Thank you to our visitors from Aotearoa for their wonderful performance of 'Kapa Haka', our traditional maori dance." She gives the children another round of applause.
Although, I can't help but get a bit of a sinking feeling in my gut when she winks at Chase in the crowd. I needn't be reminded of that.
A nudge to my elbow snaps me out of my stupor.
"You ok?" Riley asks me with a ever so slightly morose tone. He glances back at Chase, who has stood up to hug his sister and Heather, obviously knowing that I had been watching them.
'God, please tell me he isn't catching on'
"Yeah, yeah..." I quickly reply, attempting to come off as nonchalant. "Just, uh...a little spacey this morning. That's all." He nods, but the gesture doesn't seem convinced.

After receiving an alert from Ms Morgan, I rush to join Ivan and the others, making sure to notify Nathan in the event that he can get off work early.
"I'm here!" I announce, slowing to a halt in suit as Tyler helps Ivan to his feet.
"Vivix, rise!" Fury bellows, ushering his swarm of foot soldiers forward.
I jump forward, tackling a pair of them into their bretherin. "Strike!" My battle continues as I mow down the Vuvix in swathes, but even when one falls, two more appear in its place.
Just as i'm reaching for my Dino-steel charger, a white machine interrupts the fight, blasting some of the Vivix. "Alright who fed the microwave after sundown?" I dryly comment, watching as it then trips over Riley.
"I think it try and help us!" Koda exclaims.
To which a disgruntled Riley shoves the erroring robot off of him and replies, "Well it's not doing a very good job is it?"
"Leave it and get Fury!" Tyler directs. "You too Shelby!"
Koda and Shelby join him to fight Fury, trading kicks and jabs between them. "Vivix, get that robot!" He orders frustratedly. I jump into the fray alongside the other three remaining rangers, leaving the faulty AI to struggle with the Vivix. "I can't fight all seven of you!" The monster groans, resorting to summoning more Vivix to distract us. "Vivix, attack!"
"He's running with his tail between his legs!" I state in annoyance as i'm unavoidably harassed by them. Once the wave of Vivix are disposed of however, Fury has already gotten away.
"I gotta get back," Chase suddenly says, "I can't disappoint Chloe."
"It ok Chase." The caveman to my right assures him, giving him.the greenlight to hurry off back to his sister.
