„Okay, we need a break! "

The coach yelled and referee stopped the time. I was bouncing up and down like a little crazy chicken, at least that's how my sister used to describe me when I get excited. Our team was winning by two points, but we still needed to do better if we wanted to win.

I was about to ran out in the basketball court with other cheerleaders, as the basketball team walked passed us and someone grabbed my hand by the wrist stopping me from going.

I looked at who was holding me and I saw my boyfriend Ryan scanning me. I smiled and tried to free my hand since my teammates needed me in the dance routine, but he looked serious and kept on holding my hand.

"Ryan, I need to go!"

I reminded him, but he shook his head and sighted. The coach yelled at him since all the other players were listening to his command and Ryan was the only one standing on the side, here, with me.

"We need a time out."

I nodded at first. I didn't see what the big deal was, it was already one minute's time out and his coach gathered the team to teach them stuff. But Ryan shook his head obviously aware that I didn't understand what he was trying to say.

"Ryan, you have a game to play, come back to your team!"

I suggested. But he didn't listen.

"We need some time apart, I'm breaking up with you."

My world shattered within seconds. I was frozen and burning at the same time. I felt like he just slapped me. He finally let go of my hand, but I just couldn't understand how he could have possibly thought that breaking the news, such like those, in the middle of the game, would be a good idea.

One of the shorter guys from the Ryan's team looked up checking on us and saw my eyes with tears already filling in. I quickly wiped them off, I didn't want for someone to know how hurt I was at the moment.

"Was that a freaking pun?"

I shouted in to my now ex-boyfriend's face. If he wanted to break up with me, couldn't he have done it with no jokes. I wanted to punch him in the face and poke him in the eyes, and still, it wouldn't have been as painful as his words.

Ryan nodded looking proud of the references he managed to get.

The guy, who noticed my tears, walked up to him from behind and tapped him on the shoulder. I turned around so his teammate couldn't see that something was wrong with me.

Suddenly I heard people scream and huge noise followed their screams. I turned around and saw Ryan lying on the ground and his teammate cracking his knuckles. I gasped and glanced at the guy. It was quite obvious that he just punched Ryan. In the face.

I didn't know should I feel thankful or horrified.

The referee blew his whistle dragging everyone's attention. But it wasn't the signal to start playing, he noticed the little accident that was happening over here on our side.

"What is going on here?"

Referee shouted. The coach immediately got up trying to defend his player.

"Nothing. Just a knight on his duty."

Ryan's teammate whispered, but loud enough for me to hear. I couldn't help, but giggle. Which made everyone near us turn to me. I blushed and looked at the ground at instant. It wasn't a smart decision, because Ryan was still lying there grabbing on to his nose.

"What the hell Suga?"

Ryan mumbled from the ground talking to his teammate. The guy, whose name was apparently Suga, just shrugged his shoulders.

"You don't act like this with a lady."

He said and smiled to me, earning a friendly bump on his arm from his friends and a deadly glare from the coach.

"Suga, I think you will spend the rest of the game on the bench..."

The coach started off and referee nodded agreeing.

"I don't think so."

Suga disagreed and I thought that everyone around us is going to explode. Coach out of anger, his friends out of excitement and Ryan out of pain. I, on the other hand, was just kind of standing there like a decoration.

"Suga..."

Referee warned him, but the guy just shook his head walked to me.

"Want to get out of here?"

He asked and I just nodded in disbelief.

"What was that back there?"

I finally asked the question, which was making my mind go crazy for the past few minutes, after we walked out the front door of the school.

"He was a total looser for acting like that towards you."

Suga replied not even looking at me. I took his hand and he had to at least glance at me.

"Hey, thanks, but you didn't have to do it. I'm sure it will drag you in too much trouble."

"Don't worry." Now he took my hands and gently kissed them. "I couldn't miss my chance."

"Yo-your chance?"

I said struggling a bit. His gentle acting towards me was much needed change from Ryan's rude tone and aggressive nature.

"Yeah, I mean, I always wanted to punch him in the face..." He silenced the end of the sentence so I could understand it was a joke. "But more than that, I always wanted to get to know you, except that Ryan was in the way."

My heart stopped beating after his confession. I was sure my cheeks were white instead of bright red that happens often than I'm embarrassed. I wasn't embarrassed, I was... flying up there in the sky with birds and angels, I guess.

"How come we never talked before?"

I chuckled as he pushed back a hank of hair that kept on falling on my face.

"I was never brave enough to approach you." I giggled. "Hey, guys can be shy too!"

He immediately started defending himself after I laughed.

"I guess they can."

I didn't know what else I could have said. I took few steps backwards. For some reason I started feeling awkward in his embrace after some time, after all we just met.

"But I won't make the same mistake again!"

He promised and pulled me in to the hug.

"But I will need some time."

I mumbled and rubbed my cheek against his chest. I was still hurt after Ryan's cruel break up with me.

"You can have all the time in the world. I will wait, you are worth waiting for."
