**2 Hours Later**
"Is everything all set?" Jeremy asked Jamie as she zipped up her backpack. They decided to bring everything they found in their rooms in case they needed something.
"I think so?" Jamie answered in a question. She knew she had packed everything, there wasn't too much stuff, but she couldn't help feel something was missing...
"Boo!" Tiffany leaped out from under the table and attacked Jamie causing Jamie to fall on her butt. She looked over at Jeremy and Tiffany who were cracking up laughing. Apparantly they were playing their own little game of hide and seek. Ironic.
"I guess that's what was missing," Jamie stated pointing at Tiffany who was currently in a fit of giggles. As much as Jamie wanted to laugh along she couldn't and instead felt a frown grow onto her lips. She was glad that Tiffany could find humor in such scary situations, but she needed to know that during their plan Tiffany could be a big girl. Tiffany had to understand that they needed to be quiet, hence no laughing, and if it comes down to plan B she needed to follow instructions.
"Hmmmm...." Jamie sighed, thinking about all of this. This attracted the attention of Jeremy who walked over and slung his arm around her shoulder the metal of their suits creating a clunk noise in the room.
"What's the matter?" He asked Jamie, eyes full of concern.
"It's Tiffany," she said hoping that's all she needed to say.
"What about her?" guess not.
"Well, I want to make sure that she'll be ok during our escape, I know that she's young, but I'm scared that if for some reason she doesn't listen that something will go wrong. I trust her, but it's still a scary thought," Jamie explained. Her palms started to sweat thinking about the possibilities of mistakes that could occur. She felt the grip of Jeremy's arm loosen as he walked around to look directly at her.
"Listen Jamie, if you want I can go talk to her for you," his voice was calm soothing Jamie's nerves.
"Will you?" she asked already knowing the answer.
"Of course," he replied giving her a hug before striding toward Tiffany.
Jamie watched as he knelt down and started a mini speech for her. Jamie couldn't hear exactly what he was saying, but was sure that whatever is was got through to Tiffany's mind. Jamie even smiled a little as Tiffany nodded letting Jeremy know she fully understood what he was saying. When Jeremy finished whatever he had said he simply stood up and walked over to Jamie giving her a thumbs up.
"We're ready," he announced as he glanced back at Tiffany and smirked in amusement at how she copied his thumbs up. Jamie responded with her own set of double thumbs up and prepared to lift Tiffany into the vent.
The process of getting everyone into the vent was a little more difficult than when Jamie and Tiffany had done so before hand. First off, the backpack was double its size than when it came to Jeremy's room since it had more stuff in it, and second, they struggled pulling Jeremy up. Normally, Jeremy would've been fine pulling himself up being an athletic person, but with the metal suit on he was heavier.
Once everyone was safely inside the vent Jamie suggested that they head in the same direction as her and Tiffany had done before. The three of them had been crawling for at least five minutes when Jamie felt a light breeze on her forehead. It was hot in the vent from their body heat and the fact that the vent wasn't overly large. At first Jamie thought nothing of it until she saw it.
"Oh my gosh!" Jamie said a little too loudly, breaking the eery silence that had developed. "Guys look! Did you feel that breeze?" the excitement was building up inside of her ready to break loose.
Jeremy wiped some sweat off of his brow and squinted trying to see what Jamie was so anxious about. When he found the blades Jamie saw he knew they were both thinking the same thing.
We're going home.
Without hesitation, Jamie rushed forward to get a better look at the fan that was at the end of the vent. When she got there her heart almost burst with anticipation at the sight of what she'd been longing for those past couple of weeks.
"Grass!" Tiffany cheered as she crawled up to Jamie. Even with Tiffany stating the obvious Jamie couldn't believe it. They were so close she could smell it. Now, the only problem was, how were they going to stop the fan? Jamie could see that once they stopped it there would be a wide enough gap between the blades to crawl through, but the fan was just spinning fast enough that using bare hands to stop it could cause a serious injury.
It was then that Jeremy unzipped the backpack and grabbed the rope.
"Jeremy, what are you-" Jamie's question was cut short as he tossed a small amount of the rope at the fan. She closed her eyes waiting for the rope to be cut, or ricochet back at them, but instead she felt the breeze stop and the vent grow hot again. Once her eyes opened up again, she saw how much of a genius Jeremy really was.
"How did you do that?!" she asked amazed.
"Well, the throw was lucky, but I figured if the rope stopped the fan then when it was stuck we could tie the rope to a blade and use it to help us get down to the ground without breaking a leg," he said with a shrug as if his idea wasn't amazing. But to Jamie, it was.
"Jeremy Dylan Cooper, I swear you are the most brilliant guy on the planet," she said with a wink.
"Oh really?" Jeremy replied back inching closer to Jamie completely oblivious to the fact that TIffany was there. "And how should my mastermind be awarded for such an acomplishment?" he hinted.
"Like this," Jamie wrapped her arms around his neck. They were leaning towards each other when
Creak
"What was that?" Tiffany asked frightfully as she crawled over to Jamie hugging her.
"I don't know," Jamie answered slightly frightened, but slightly more annoyed with the fact that a silly noise stopped her from getting to kiss her boyfriend.
CREAK
It came again, this time much louder than before. Jamie's heart rate sped up and thoughts were racing through her mind. This wasn't right, they were supposed to go home, what was happening?
Jamie reached for the rope attempting to remind the three of them what they were about to do when
BAM!
All went black.
Haha!!!! Don't you guys just loooove cliff hangers? Almost as much as I love plot twists! Lets be honest, how many of you guys thought they were going to make it home this early in the story? Anyways I'm having sooo much fun writing this, ideas come to me all the time and I can't seem to type them all fast enough!
Comment, vote, read!
BTW I'm thinking of writing this is another one of the character's views, but I'm not sure if I want to do that or keep it all in Jamies POV. Comment what you think!
