"Mmmm," Jamie groaned as she fluttered her eyes open to reveal a beautiful face in front of her. Was she dead? Did she die and go to heaven? As she wondered this her vision began to focus more and her brain registered that the face in front of hers was not that of an angel's, but instead belonged to her boyfriend, Jeremy. Wait, brain. Something happened to her brain, but she couldn't remember. She sat up abruptly, startling Jeremy and Tiffany who had been watching Jamie also.
"You're awake!" Jeremy cried and pulled her into a hug. He held her tight enough to the point where she couldn't breath.
"Jeremy," Jamie choked.
"Yeah?" he replied rather dreamily, did she really have that effect on him?
"Get off," she mumbled, she was glad to have his embrace, but she was about to pass out again.
"S-sorry," he stuttered before releasing her. Much better. Now it was time to find out what happened to her.
"Jeremy, what happened to me?" Jamie asked as she attempted to stand up. She felt dizzy and settled for kneeling on the floor. Jeremy held out his wrists indicating to the duct tape wrapped around them.
"Your brain button popped up a couple of hours ago, so Tiffany and I had to hold it down for you," Jamie glanced down as her wrists to see that they were wrapped up like the other's.
"How did you get this stuff?" she asked wide eyed.
"Well, I had to sneak out and look for it while Tiffany held down your button," he looked over at Tiffany who beamed with pleasure. This little girl sure loved her moments.
"Thank you Tiffany, that must've been some hard work," Jamie spoke rather enthusiastically knowing that it would make Tiffany feel that much more important.
"And you," she shifted her conversation to Jeremy all the while she dropped down her tone of voice.
"Don't you ever sneak out without my permission again do you understand?" now that she knew he had leftt she was mad. Did he have any idea how dangerous that could've been?
"I hate to point out the obvious, but you were passed out on the floor DYING!" he yelled the last word with so much emphasis that it made Jamie twitch slightly.
"I don't care! You could've been caught! And besides, you could've held the button until I woke up and then I could've held it till we got out!" was he stupid? She didn't mind holding down one little button.
"I don't wanna sound like a smartalic here, but I solved all of our problems, besides what if one of your other buttons popped? Guess holding them down doesn't sound like a smart idea after all huh?" He crossed his arms and gave her the look that said "Look who's stupid now."
"I'm sorry, but I don't want you to get hurt! We need you as our seeker, otherwise we'll never get free!"
"Exactly! If I'm fine being a seeker to you guys then I was fine going to find you some stinkin' duct tape earlier!" he did have a point, but Jamie being the girl that she was didn't want him to prove it. She was about to open her mouth to speak again when a cry inturrupted her. She turned her head to find that Tiffany had ran into one of the stalls and started bawling.
"Tiffany it's okay, we're done fighting," Jamie cooed as she threw Jeremy a dirty look, he reciprocated before following her to Tiffany's stall.
"Please don't fight anymore, I don't like it when you fight like Mommy and Daddy," this brought tears to Jamie's eyes. Tiffany's mom and dad fight a lot at home? Poor thing.
"Tiffany, we won't fight anymore I promise," with that said she looked over at Jeremy this time giving him a look that said "Lets not fight anymore," this was returned with a look that stated "I agree."
"Do you promise too?" Tiffany asked staring at Jeremy. He knelt down and took Tiffany's hands. As he wiped the tear from her face he spoke two words rather softly.
"I promise."
Heyy guys, I know that this chapter was really short, but I thought I'd like to put some emotional moments in there. I also realized that this was one of the first chapters I've written that does not have a cliffhanger at the end. Cliffhangers are fun, but it's nice to finish reading a chapter where you don't have to worry about what happens next.
Anyways, I was sick today, :P blah, so I had some free time on my hands. I figured I'd put it to good use towards you guys! Honestly, you all are half the reason why I write, it's no fun writing a book if people aren't going to read it right? Thanks for the constructive criticism @levasseurj98!
