Chapter 2 - Hampshire

It took us 4 hours to get to Hampshire, my dad and mum took one car and I took mine, Leo decided that he wanted to come in my car. And of course, being the boy he is, made me stop for food every half an hour. And by the end of the four hours, I could have killed him.

He's my baby brother and I love him, but he is like a human bin. He doesn't stop eating, like ever. And let's not forget the fact that he can be incredibly annoying when he keeps asking 'are we there yet?'

"Ella, how are you doing?" My step-grandad, Simon asked hugging me as we walked into the hospital where nan was.

"Tired from all the driving," I smiled as I hugged him back. "How's nan?" I asked pulling away from him.

"She's in a coma," Simon said slowly, "it's all my fault."

"Non sense." Dad said hugging Simon, "what happened?"

"We was driving to go get a takeaway and this car- out of nowhere this car crashed into the side of us, the guy was a drunk driver. He didn't make it."

"That's awful," mum said, "do the doctors know how bad she is?" Mum asked, holding my dads hand tightly.

"She hit her head, their hoping its nothing too serious. But she's in a coma so we won't know until she wakes up." Simon said looking at his wife, through the glass. "But it is all my fault, I suggested we got a takeaway and I was driving. I should have been making sure that it was clear and that nobody was coming."

"Simon, it's not your fault. That guy shouldn't have been on the road, he was drunk."

"I know..." Simon looked at Leo and smiled, "you're pretty much a man now." Simon smiled. "Your nan would be so proud, of both of you." Simon said looking at both Leo and I.

"I feel bad, I haven't seen you guys in so long." I said sadly. "I missed you guys."

"Well your here now, Ella." Simon said smiling. "We should probably go, you must be all tired and the hospital will ring if there is any news."

"I think your right." My dad said kissing my mums forehead.

The next day I woke up to an unfamiliar room, I rubbed my eyes and remember the day before. I was at my Nan's house. She was in a coma.

I looked around the room where I normally stay when we come to stay. The room was girly, (just how my Nam wanted my room to be like) it was lilac walls with light pink bedspread.

It was super cute.

I slowly got out of bed, and grabbed a pair of high waisted shorts and a white halter neck crop top. I applied simple make up and headed downstairs.

"You look cute," my mum said smiling at me once I was in the kitchen.

"Cute, but showing a lot of skin." My dad commented.

"Dad, it's summer. It's hot, please can we not do this again." Every summer, we get into this conversation. It's not like I'm naked, but dad just won't ever let it drop because I'm his 'baby girl, that has grown up too quickly'.

"I know, I know. But your my baby girl and I don't want delinquent boys staring at my beautiful daughter--"

"I agree with your father." Simon piped up.

I groaned, "muuum, please stand up for me."

"I'm not getting involved." Mum laughed, "all I'm going to say is that, she could have came down with a mini skirt that doesn't leave anything to the imagine and a top that doesn't cover her boobs."
