I wake up to the sound of our car being parked in the garage. My parents are back. Am I ready to face them? I am halfway through the stairs when my mom catches me. She is carrying a sunflower and a box of Royce. My mom is Chance??? This cannot be true. C'mon!
"Someone wants you to have these", mom says as she hands me the presents.
Madison Alexandra Lee,
I hope these can cheer you up. :)
I'm bothering you again.
Will you give me another go?
-Chance
"Who is it from?" I ask.
"I am actually hoping you can tell me who he is." she says.
"I don't know. Someone who gives me sunflowers. And surprisingly, a box of my favorite chocolate. He's a semi-creepy semi-sweet admirer/stalker. You really have no idea who he might be?"
My mom shakes her head.
"How did you get this anyway?" I ask, intrigued.
"It was with Harvey's stack of presents. Probably from the nurses or his fans."
"Ok. Thank you."
"Madie...baby girl...I'm really sorry."
"I understand mom. I just need more time. Thanks, again."
When I enter my sanctuary, I am on the verge of crying again. Ugh, tears, please stop it. Reserve it later before sleeping. Focus on something else. Good vibes. Positive thinking.
I look at my hands holding the gifts from Chance. His sweet gesture made me smile indeed. I thought the concert was the last time I would see his sunflowers and notes. Good thing he changed his mind.
The quest in finding who my mystery guy is back on. My brain is calling my inner Sherlock and I list down the clues.
- He knows I will be at the coffee shop that Saturday. The only people who know about it are my parents, Harvey and Gab.
- He came to the concert and probably has backstage access. People backstage: Go.O.D, prod crew, media, some fans.
- He knows Harvey is in this hospital. He is probably a huge fan of the band, part of the band or a really creepy stalker. Maybe he is a nurse there. Or a doctor. Dylan? Nah! Erase! Definitely not him.
- He knows sunflowers are my favorite aside from a blue rose. No other soul knows about this except Gab and Harvey. Oh, and my parents.
- He knows the easiest way to cheer me up is chocolate. SCARY. He even bought my favorite.
Based on these facts, there are only three possible people to be my Chance - Vincent. Seth. Ethan. I can say I am pretty close to all of them but they have always treated me like a little sister. Maybe, I am too blind and insensitive not to notice that one of them is into me.
A brilliant idea strikes me. I search for the concert notes and match the handwriting; nothing is the same. Nevertheless, my gut feel is pointing to Ethan because with everything that occurred these past few weeks - the car incident with Harvey, his solo at the concert and the way he treated me yesterday, it makes perfect sense.
