For Now

Draco was half asleep when Harry stormed into the room and started pacing, not even noticing him lying on the couch, they usually met here at this time but Harry completely forgot, he was too wrapped up in his thoughts. Draco cleared his throat, and Harry jumped.

"You scared me" he said pausing in his tracks for a minute. He started up again, you could almost see his path in the carpet.

"What's your problem Harry?" Draco asked.

"We need to talk" He said still pacing. Draco sat up. Those words never meant anything good.

"What's the issue" Draco asked twirling his wand between his fingers. It was habit of his, something he did when he was nervous and Harry was making him incredibly nervous, first he stormed into the room, nearly giving him a heart attack, then he started pacing, not even acknowledging him and then he said that the need to talk, Draco was scared.

"We need to break up" Harry said figuring it would be easiest to say it straight out. The wand fell from Draco's fingers and landed on the floor with a loud clatter, red sparks flying out the end.

"Haha very funny" Draco said rolling his eyes thinking that it was just a joke, at least he hoped it was a joke.

"I'm being serious, I think we should break up" Harry said stopping in front of Draco.

"Why?" He was trying to come to terms with what was happening and to do that he needed a reason.

"The war has started Draco and we are on opposite sides. It's not safe to be in a relationship with me right now, it could end horribly, I think its best that we split while we still can"

"It's never a good time to date you" Draco said "Please Harry, I'll be fine. Don't end this"

Harry shook his head "Voldemort could use you as bait Draco and I don't think I could live with myself" Draco flinched when harry said Voldemort but Harry continued "I need to know that you will be as safe as you can get with a war going on and that's not possible when he can use you to completely destroy me. I'm so sorry. I never wanted to have to do this"

Draco stood up "I understand" He said softly. "I knew it was going to have to happen eventually, I'm just sad it had to be now"

"I'm sorry Draco, we'll see each other again yeah? After this is all over" Harry said wrapping him into a final hug. Draco was going to miss this, the hugs, the kisses, the feeling of being loved. He was going to miss it a lot.

"Yeah, once this is all over" he whispered, refusing to let the tears fall. He wouldn't cry.

Harry pulled him away and gave him one last kiss on the lips "Goodbye Draco" He said

"For now" Draco replied. It was a thing they did whenever they had to say goodbye. Goodbye for now.

"I love you" Harry called out as Draco opened the door

"I love you too" and then Draco walked away, finally allowing the tears to roll down his face.

Sorry for all the sad fanfics lately, my writing reflects my mood and I haven't been in the best of moods so yeah, I apologize and I will try to write something cute and fluffy soon!  

Also, a reminder that I do take requests and if I don't write one it's probably because I didn't realize that a request was sent, comments can be confusing and sometimes they don't show up on my laptop.
