I know nothing of the army so just bare with me on this...

Y/N POV:

"Sargent Y/L/N, my office please." My commanding officer Smith told me as I was about to go to the mess hall for dinner.

I quickly followed him into his office and he sighed sitting down.

"We're really gonna miss you." He simply said, and I grew confused.

"Miss me? Where am I going?"

"How old is your daughter?" He asked.

"She just turned four sir." I said sadly. I couldn't be there for her birthday, yet again. This was the third year in a row. I haven't seen her or my wife, Lauren in three whole years.

"And you couldn't be there." He stated and I nodded sadly, feeling my eyes starting to well up with tears but I blinked them.

"You're not having dinner tonight, go pack your things." He said, and my head shot up.

"What?"

"We're letting you go on honorary discharge Y/L/N. You've given this army eight years of your life, and you've done nothing but make us proud. We all agreed to let you go so you can see your little girl grow up, and spend time with your wife." He said smiling and I finally let my tears fall.

He stood up from his seat and I rushed over to him, engulfing him in a giant hug.

"Thank you so much sir!" I said through my cries and he chuckled, patting my back.

"Come on, there's a car waiting to take you to the airport." He said and I let go of him, running out of his office, yelling another quick thank you before rushing to my bunk and packing my things.

I finally get to see my little girl and my beautiful wife after three years apart!

Should I call to tell her? I thought to myself.

No, surprising them sounds much more fun.

After I finished packing my things I went out to the car to see my army buddy Costello waiting for me by a car.

"I'm gonna miss your annoying ass." She said bringing me in for a hug.

"Whatever, let's go." I said excitedly, causing her to giggle.

"Can I see the phone?" I asked her as we got in the car, she nodded and handed me one of the phones, and I quickly dialed my best friends number.

"Hello? Y/N?!"

"Hey Mani." I said and I heard her squeal.

"Oh my gosh! I wasn't expecting a call from you!"

"I know, are the rest of the girls with you?"

"Yeah, but Lauren and Harmony are upstairs sleeping, should I wake them?" She asked.

"No!" I say quickly.

"Um, okay. What's up?"

"Can you put me on speaker, and make sure the girls keep quiet." I tell her and she mumbles a quick 'okay'.

"You're on speaker." She says.

"Hey girls." I say and I hear multiple squeals and Normani sushing them.

"We miss you so much Y/N/N." I heard Ally say.

"I miss y'all too," I start but then Dinah cuts me.

"When are you getting back? Lauren hasn't been able to stop crying lately, she keeps thinking something might happen to you." Dinah tells me and my and my heart breaks a little at the thought of my girl crying herself to sleep, worrying at me.
