Chapter 25- EDITED
Pretty Much Dead Already : S2 E7
Part : 1

|Haley|

I woke up in a bed. I recognized it as Maggie's room.

What if my mom had come back, and I wasn't there?

Your mother's gone, Haley!

I got up and looked out the window. I smiled as I saw the group eating breakfast, and decided to join them. I went downstairs and saw the Greene's eating breakfast.

Maggie smiled and I waved. "Um, thank you for letting me stay the night, Mr.Greene." I said as I left the house to join my family.

I grabbed my breakfast from Carol, and plopped myself next to Carl.

He smiled. "Good morning."

"Good morning!" I said, my British accent making it's way through. "So, um, guys." I said grabbing everyone's attention. "I had learned a song on my guitar, a month before all this happened. So, I'm going to play it, because I think it goes with my situation from yesterday. So, uh, this is for you mom." I said grabbing my guitar from beside me.

I started strumming the first notes and started to sing. "I want to live, I want to give. I've been a miner for a heart of gold. It's these expressions, I never give, That keep me searching for a heart of gold." I strummed a bit more and continued. "And I'm getting old. Keep me searching for a heart of gold. And I'm getting old...I've been to Hollywood. I've been to Redwood. I crossed the ocean for a heart of gold. I've been in my mind, It's such a fine line, That keeps me searching for a heart of gold...And I'm getting old. Keeps me searching for a heart of gold. And I'm getting old." I took in a deep breath and continued. "Keep me searching for a heart of gold.
You keep me searching and I'm growing old.
Keep me searching for a heart of gold
I've been a miner for a heart of gold." It was a short song, but it meant a lot.

They all nodded in appreciation, and Carol had shed a few tears.

I leaned against Carl as we ate breakfast and I saw Glenn get up.

"So, um, guys." My eyes widened as I realized what he was going to say, so I shook my head quickly.

"No!" I quickly said, getting up but he said it.

"The barn is full of walkers."

I glared at the ground, feeling like I had betrayed the Greene's. It was Glenn, not you.

"You cannot tell me you're okay with this." Shane said as he turned towards us.

"No, I'm not. But we're guests here. This isn't our land." Rick replied.

"This is our lives!" Shane yelled frustrated.

"Lower your voice." Glenn whisper shouted at Shane.

"We can't just sweep this under the rug." Andrea said.

"It ain't right. Not remotely." Shane said. "Okay, we've either got to go in there, and make or we've just got to go. Now, we've been talking about Fort Benning--"

"We can't go." Rick said.

"Why, Rick, why?"

"Because my daughter's still out there."

"Okay. I-I think it's time we all should just start to consider the other possibility."
