hoping for snow

I've made mistakes, but so have you
it's been a year of nothing new,
and now I'm waiting for this to unfold

The bright morning sunlight greeted your eyes once you opened them. You suddenly felt unsusual emptiness, and once you turned to your side you realized.

Beside you was an empty space, an empty space where your boyfriend Calum was supposed to be lying on. He was supposed to be looking at you right now with his dreamy smile, and a raspy good morning was supposed to be coming out from his mouth.

But no Calum. Worse is, it's Christmas day. And he wasn't here to spend it with you. But you were wondering why though, since the boys said that they would be home by Christmas.

You tried to remember what happened six months ago, the night before Calum left for tour. The both of you got into a very heated argument. Harsh words were being spit at each other out of utter anger. Nothing more. And in the morning he just left, with no goodbye kisses or goodbye hugs or goodbye anything.

They raise a glass, but I'm all sad
I keep awake and spirits high,
it's you I'm hoping to meet in the cold

You were having Christmas dinner with everyone you know-----friends, family, but still without Calum. Everyone was all smiles, showing off their inner Christmas spirits. You flash them a smile as well, but what they didn't know is that it wasn't too sincere.

You looked out at your window with hopeful eyes, wanting to see Calum outside, about to knock on your door. But there was still no sign of him.

Last year, you took a piece of my heart
this year, I guess it's falling apart
Everyone's hoping for snow
but I'm just hoping that you'll come home

Everyone was giving you beautiful presents. You gave each and every one of them a thank you, but all you wanted was Calum.

Your cute little cousin ran up to you. "Hey there, you little cutie. Merry Christmas," You greeted her. "Thank you, Y/N. Merry Christmas too!" She chirped in her cute voice.

"Did you get what you want?" You asked her, smiling. "Yes! I wanted it to snow for Christmas and guess what, it did! Did you get what you want?" She replied.

You sighed at her question. "Not yet." But you were unsure about the yet part. Is Calum really coming home? That's all you wanted. "Oh, that's sad." Your cousin pouted. "I'm fine, dear," You chuckle, ruffling her short blonde hair. Although inside you're not. Calum just left, bringing along with him a piece of your heart. Your whole heart, let's just say.

And now it's falling apart.

I catch a breath, it chills my lungs
it takes me back to when we were young
I always seem to get lost in the past

Your family was discussing about memories from last Christmas, and you were reminiscing on your own too. You remembered how fun Christmas was with Calum, how you would both just cuddle up in the cold. How you both had snowball fights outside, and how everything else just happened with Calum.

You almost yelled in frustration.

I see you out, out in the street and nothing on your face shows that you're missing me
And all our friends from way back when keep asking me just how I've been, and how you've been, and it's killing me

"Merry Christmas, dear," Your aunt greeted you. "Thank you." You smiled. "I thought you had a boyfriend?" "Yeah, I do." "Oh. How is he, dear?" "He's quite busy. He might not make it today." You replied sadly. "That's too bad, honey." She frowned.

"Y/N!" Your sister called out. "Where's Calum? How are you two?" Yiu bit your lip. "I--- We're fine. Calum's just... busy."

Eveyone was starting to ask you about you and Calum's relationship, and they're all frustrating you because answering their questions made you think more about him, which hurts because he's not here. "I'm going for a walk," You announced to everyone before leaving.

Tears were starting to brim your eyes once you got out in the cold. You didn't know where to go, but you decided to go into the bigger and busier part of where you lived. And indeed, it was busy. There were shops everywhere and people were all around. Almost egeryone you see had someone tagging along with them, which made you feel alone and out of place.

You decided to go to your favorite toy store, where you and Calum would always go. You've always admired all the good stuffed toys and other things they sell. But when you made it there, you saw someone staring at the toys on the shop's windows. His back was facing you, but by his posture and thick black hair sticking out from his beanie, you knew it was Calum.

"C-Calum?" You asked quietly. Although he heard, and turned around to face you. It really is him. His eyes widened. "Y/N!" He walked towards you, but you took a step back. He was taken aback by what you did. "You're home?" You asked him again.

"Um, yeah. Hi." He gave you a small smile. He didn't look like he missed you at all. Meanwhile you, on the other hand were dying to see him after six long months.

"T-That's all you say? After six months? Hi??? Calum, you didn't even bother coming back to our house! It's Christmas, for God's sake! I haven't seen you for a long time, and you're just here, dwelling around not even bothering to look for me! I... I miss you." Your last words came out in a whisper.

Calum looked shocked. "Y-you miss me?" "Of course I do, you idiot!" You were crying now. "I'm so sorry, Y/N." He went closer, but you backed away again.

"Look, I never knew you would still come looking after me after that fight we had. I never had the guts to, since I know I have done enough to lose your trust in me. I... I don't deserve you at all. And yeah, you really should be angry at me. You can yell all you want." He was crying too.

"Cal," You stepped closer to him. He looked at you, his chocolate brown eyes filled with hope. You sigh, wrapping you arms around him. He was a little taken aback, but he hugged you back really tightly. "I miss you too. A lot." He said. You tightened your grip around him as well, inhaling his scent that you had missed so much. "I forgive you, Cal. It's just a stupid fight anyway."

"Let's get in the toy store, I should buy you something." He said. "No." You said stiffly, your arms still around him. "I don't need anything from you. I just want you, that's all."

Everyone's hoping for snow,
but I'm bust hoping that you might make it home

A/N: This is so long :') but Calum girls, I hope you'll like this
