It's almost midnight, where you lay your head
but I'm calling numbers, buying plane tickets and bed

It was Christmas eve, and you were talking to Michael through Skype. It's terrible how he couldn't make it home for Christmas, but you also understood since he's busy on tour.

"Advanced Merry Christmas, babe," His laggy voice said from your laptop. "Thank you, you too." You smiled sadly. "I'm so sorry I couldn't make it." He merely pouted through the unclear screen. "I understand, Michael. It's fine." You sighed.

"I wish I was there..." Michael continued. "Me too." You replied, before yawning really loud. "Y/N, you need to sleep." "No, I'm fine." "Y/N, as much as I want to stay up and talk to you until Christmas day... You. Need. Rest." "Mike---" "Sleep!" He ordered.

"Fine." You yawned again. "Good night, babe. Sleep well and everything. Love youuuuu!" He grinned in a singsongy tone before ending your Skype call. He seemed in a hurry, but you didn't care. You immediately dozed off once your head hit the pillows.

The day's getting colder, I'm coming home now
so go ahead light the fire, turn that Christmas tree on

On the other side of the world, Michael had tricks upon his sleeve. "Hello? Yes, I would like to buy a plane ticket." "Of course sir, when are you planning on leaving?" "Now."

I missed Thanksgiving, missed a birthday or two
didn't make St. Valentines, but I was thinking of you

Your deep slumber was disturbed by the loud rings of your phone. "Hello?" You answered groggily, not even checking the caller's ID.

"Hi babe," You heard Michael's voice through the phone. "Michael?! Wha--- it's freaking midnight over here!" "I know. Merry Christmas."

"Is that the only reason why you're calling me? To greet me a merry Christmas? 'Cause I need to shut my eyes for a few more hours." "No, wait! I have more to say." "Go on, then," You sighed.

"W-well, remember when I missed Thanksgiving?" "Yeah?" "And I also missed Valentines, and your birthday?" "Yeah." "I'm sorry about that." "Michael, you can just tell me that in the morning! And you already know that I forgive you! Now let me sle----" "WAIT!" Michael yelled, causing you to jump. You were wide awake now.

"What?" You snapped, getting annoyed. "I... I just.. Well... Look, I'm not that good at talking about deep stuff okay, so... Open your door." "Why would I?" "Just open your damn door!"

"Fine!" You slowly walked downstairs while wondering what the hell is going on in your boyfriend's mind. "I'm opening the door," You said into the phone, only to realize that Michael had hung up. You sighed, but slowly opened the door anyway.

But someone seems to be on your doorway, and he quickly swung the door open. Next thing you knew, familiar lips were pressed against yours and you felt a pair of arms snake around your waist. You gasped onced he pulled away. "Michael?" Your eyes were as wide as the baubles on your Christmas tree.

"Merry Christmas," Michael smirked, pulling you closer with his hands that were still around your waist. "Are you real?" You asked stupidly, tapping his nose. Of course he was.

"Do I get boyfriend points for making it home on Christmas?" He asked, nuzzling his nose into the crook of your neck. "No! You woke me up in the middle of the night, you idiot." "Well, I just couldn't spend Christmas without you, and I want to make it up to you from all the holidays and celebrations that I missed. Now do I get boyfriend points?"

"Not if I get girlfriend points for actually opening the door for you. I could've just ignored your stupid request and left you all alone outside."

"But you didn't."

There's only one thing that kills me,
Christmas without you
