An idea adorning

A light bulb above my brain

It dawned on me this morning

Look on the bright side again

Definition of Tanaga

Poets test their skills at rhyme, metre and metaphor through the Tanaga, not only because it is rhymed and measured, but also it exacts skilful use of words to create a puzzle that demands some kind of an answer.

The Tanaga is a type of Filipino poem consisting of four lines, seven syllables. The modern Tanaga still uses the 7777 syllable count, but rhymes range from dual rhyme forms: AABB, ABAB, ABBA; to freestyle forms such as AAAB, BAAA, or ABCD.
