Torn Between Two

#7 - The Borders

I look at her cold ice eyes, "What's your name?" I ask.

"My name's Samantha Addison and I'm a part of the ice border."

"So if I'm part of the ice and fire border, what am I..?"

She bites her lip, "Follow me."

I follow Samantha, as I step out of the fire border I feel the heat instantly disappear.

She takes me to the castle and we walk up to her bedroom.

I shut the door, "Now, talk."

She nods.

"Many years ago..."
"There was a girl like you, she had both ice and fire powers.."

"So she was part of both?"

Samantha nods, "And one day, both fire and ice border came to war, the girl was the only one who could stop it, so she created the border.. So no one on the ice side could pass it, as it was the same for the fire."

She smiles to herself, "The war ended as they couldn't get to each other."

I twist my head, "Seeing as I'm part of both.. I can pass through them, right?"

"Yes.. Elena, we need you to run the borders." Samantha grabs my hands.

"Why? What happened to the girl who made the borders? Who is she?"

Samantha sighs, "S-she.. Disappeared after the border was made."

"O-oh.." I stand up,
"Why do the borders need running anyway? They're fine how they are!"

"Elena--"

"Tell me. Why?"

"Because if no one runs the borders then one side will begin to cover the other! And you don't get that this is Remainia, your parents had another child.. And I'm that child!"

My eyes widen, "W-what? No! Your last name is different." I roll my eyes

"Obviously I faked it, but Elena you need to listen to me, please take over the border! Before something bad happens to our home."

"No! This isn't my home, I belong in Earth."

Samantha stands up, "So you're just going to let this world suffer?!"

I look at her, "Does it matter?"
I run out of the castle and jump back in the portal to Earth.

As soon as I arrive I see trees on fire, cars turned into ashes...

My mum immediately spots me, "Elena Woods, turn this fire down now!"

I breathe in and lower my hands as the fire dies.

My mum casts a spell, "Okay! I removed everyone memory, but you Elena, and all your sisters will be coming back to Remainia tomorrow, oh and Elena! Once we do.. I need to talk to you,"

I shake my head and run back to the party house and I grab Emery.

"Emery.. I need to tell you something."

"Hm?"

I breathe out and flex my fingers, a small ice crystal floats around,
"I'm the princess of a village called Remainia, I was born with.. Powers, but about 5 years ago, my sister's and I moved to Earth due to a war.. And now.."

"You have to go back?" Emery sighs.

"But I don't want to.."

"But Elena.. It's your home--"

"How are you taking this so easily?" I say in confusion.

She sighs at the ground as I see a spec of yellow in her eyes.

"E-Emery?!"
