Something Unexpected (A Dramione Story)

Chapter 38

Hermione had to stay in the hospital for another week and then she was allowed to come back to school. When she walked into the Great Hall to eat dinner, everyone turned their heads to the door. Hermione walked to her usual seat and she got smiles from everyone. She sat down and looked around.
‘You look like you’ve seen a ghost.’ Hermione said.
‘Of course.’ Neville said smirking.
‘Good to have you back.’ Seamus said.
‘You scared the hell out of everyone.’ Dean said.
‘Wasn’t planning on doing that.’ Hermione said.
‘How are you feeling?’ Neville asked.
‘Great, can’t be better.’ Hermione said.
‘All better?’ Seamus asked.
Hermione nodded.
‘Everyone who wanted to had said goodbye to you.’ Luna said with her dreamy voice from behind Hermione.
‘Hi Luna, yeah I know.’ Hermione said.
Luna sat down next to Hermione as she and Neville made place for her.
‘How can you know?’ Ginny asked.
‘I could hear everyone who talked to me.’ Hermione said.
‘Really?’ Ron asked.
Hermione nodded.
‘Yes I also heard everything you’ve been saying nearby me.’ Hermione said.
‘But why didn’t you wake up earlier, as you could hear us talk to you?’ Harry asked.
‘It’s not that easy. I could only hear you. I was in some sort of weird place, all alone, there were birds making noises and I could feel the wind. And one time Draco was there, but that was obviously not real.’ Hermione explained.
‘You could hear everything?’ Ron asked.
Hermione nodded.
‘Can everyone who’s in a coma hear the people around them, are they all in a weird place?’ Seamus asked.
‘I don’t know, but I was.’ Hermione said.
‘Maybe only she?’ Harry said.
‘Because she’s special.’ Draco said smirking, who had stopped behind Harry.
Harry scoot over and Draco sat down next to him on the opposite side of Hermione.
‘Cute.’ Ginny said.
Hermione got a light blush on her cheeks and she looked down.
‘Just two months and then we’re almost done here.’ Ginny said.
‘I know right, time goes so fast.’ Hermione said.
Everyone laughed.
‘I can imagine how fast, one moment it’s end winter and then it’s almost end spring.’ Ginny said.
‘Oh shut up.’ Hermione said.
‘What are you going to do after this?’ Hermione asked everyone.
‘I’ll go for Auror.’ Draco said.
‘Really?’ Harry asked.
Draco nodded.
‘I want to do something good.’ Draco said.
‘Gonna go for the Auror too.’ Harry said.
‘Me too.’ Ron said.
‘What about you?’ Ginny asked.
‘I don’t know it really.’ Hermione said.
‘Become an Auror too.’ Harry said.
‘The Golden Trio.’ Neville said smirking.
Hermione laughed.
‘I don’t know.’ Hermione said.
‘We’ll see.’ Ginny said.
‘We sure do.’ Hermione said.

*2 months later*

‘We can do this.’ Hermione said.
‘Yeah you can, you’re a genius.’ Ron said as they walked through the corridors.
‘Don’t be nervous, you’ll get it.’ Hermione said.
‘Only the N.E.W.T s and then we’re done here.’ Ginny said.
‘When we graduate yes, not if we fail.’ Ron said.
‘Stop complaining! We all graduate!’ Hermione said.
‘Ron remember, all those time Hermione was in a coma, you were on school and you had classes, she missed a lot and she had to get up with us the past 2 months.’ Ginny said.
‘So you’ll be fine.’ Hermione said.
Ron nodded lightly and sighed.
‘Let’s do this.’ Harry said as they entered the room.
They all sat down and then their N.E.W.T s started.

After the N.E.W.T s finished Hermione, Draco, Ginny, Harry, Ron, Lavender, Neville, Luna, Seamus, Dean, Blaise and Goyle went to Hogsmeade to celebrate the end of the tests. They entered the Three Broomsticks and sat down around a large table. They all ordered butterbeer and just talked.
‘Now we have to wait for the results.’ Ron said.
‘Don’t worry.’ Ginny said.
‘They weren’t that hard actually.’ Ron said.
‘See, you worried for nothing.’ Hermione said.
‘I don’t know about you, but I’ve got a good feeling.’ Harry said.
Everyone nodded.
‘Oh god.’ Hermione said.
‘What?’ Draco asked.
‘After we graduated we won’t be coming back at Hogwarts.’ Hermione said.
‘I’m going to miss the place.’ Ginny said.
‘Me too.’ Hermione said as the other nodded.
‘We had some crazy years there.’ Harry said.
‘I think crazy is not the right word for it.’ Hermione said.
‘There were terrifying moments.’ Harry said.
They all nodded again.
‘On new beginnings.’ Draco said raising his butterbeer.
‘On new beginnings.’ Everyone repeated and raised their glasses.
Draco gave Hermione a kiss on her cheek and smiled.
‘I’ve got a feeling everything will be all right.’ Hermione said.
‘We’ve got a bright future ahead of us.’ Ginny said.
Hermione nodded.
‘Surely after all those rough years.’ Harry said.
Ron nodded.
‘I think we deserve a little rest, don’t we?’ Ron said.
Harry and Hermione laughed.
‘I think so too.’ Hermione said as Harry nodded.
‘I heard McGonagall asked you three to give a speech.’ Neville said.
‘Yeah she did.’ Hermione said.
‘Are you going to say something?’ Seamus asked.
‘Yes.’ Harry said and he drank his butterbeer.
‘What are you going to say?’ Blaise asked.
‘I don’t know yet.’ Harry said.
Hermione shook her head.
‘Ron?’ Dean asked.
‘Me neither.’ Ron said.
‘Ronald is a bit nervous.’ Ginny said.
‘That’s natural.’ Draco said.
‘Yes, you need to talk to all the students of the 7th year.’ Ginny said.
‘Not helping.’ Ron said.
‘Sorry.’ Ginny said.

‘All “outstanding”’ Hermione said happily as Draco had come over to her.
‘I knew it!’ Draco said smiling and he gave her a tight hug and a kiss on the lips.
‘Congratulations.’ Draco said smiling.
‘You too!’ Hermione said.
‘Though it’s not as good as your results.’ Draco said smirking.
‘But who could beat her?’ Ginny said smirking.
‘True story.’ Harry said.
‘Guys! We all graduated!’ Ginny said.
They all got a huge smile on their faces.
‘Only the ceremony and the speeches.’ Ron said.
‘You’ll do fine.’ Harry said.
‘Plus Gryffindor won the house cup!’ Ginny said.
‘Sorry Draco, but Gryffindor is the best.’ Hermione said.
Draco laughed.
‘That you beat us this year, doesn’t mean you’re immediately the best.’ Draco said laughing.
‘Yes it does!’ Harry and Ron said in unison.
They all started to laugh.

It was the day of the graduation ceremony.
‘I don’t know if I can do this.’ Ron whispered.
‘Calm down Ron, you can.’ Hermione whispered.
‘Harry will go first, then you and I’m last.’ Ron whispered.
‘Last best.’ Hermione tried.
Ron looked at Hermione and gave her a small smile.
‘And now a few speeches.’ McGonagall said and she stepped back allowing Harry to step forwards.
‘Good luck.’ Hermione and Ron said.
Harry nodded and stepped forwards.
‘Hi everyone, firstly congratulations to you all! Finally graduated! From the beginning of the year Voldemort has been around to ruin the end of every school year. Putting the lives of people in danger. Last year we lost a lot of people in the Wizarding War. Hermione, Ron and I had been hunting Horcruxes and ended at Hogwarts. We all lost people we loved, people who we care about. Luckily that awful man is gone now and won’t be around to ruin anyone’s lives anymore. We need to treasure the moments we have now and have as much fun as we could. I hope you all will have a great future and I’m sure we’ll see each other again.’ Harry ended.
Harry walked back as everyone clapped and Hermione stepped forwards.
‘Like Harry said, the past few years weren’t the easiest. I’m still grateful for them. I had fun and amazing moments with my friends. It was amazing to spend those years with you. We hoped to have a peaceful last year here at Hogwarts, but of course that couldn’t happen. After I’ve been in a coma and seen death a bit to many times, I’m glad to stand here and finished this year. I want to thank everyone for their support and help.’ Hermione said.
Hermione walked back as everyone clapped for her and now it was Ron’s turn. Hermione and Harry both gave him an encouraging look and then he stepped forwards.
Ron looked at the cards in his hands and then up to the students. He looked back down and then put them in his pocket.
‘I had a speech on my cards, but I’ll do it without.’ He said.
‘This is coming straight from the heart, and it wouldn’t surprise you that the speech that’s on the cards is written by Hermione, just as 99,9% of my homework.’ Ron said turning to Hermione who gave him a smile and the students laughed.
‘Great speech just so you know. I’ve spend the last eight years with my two best friends. I wouldn’t want it any other way. We just have to remind ourselves that we are so fortunate that we are here and that we could spend these years with each other. This year was not as great and peaceful as I had imagined it would be. It was terrifying to know that I could lose one of my best friends, but one guy especially pressed my buttons.’ Ron said as he made eye contact with Draco who smirked.
‘Telling us she had moved, I personally thought he was getting nuts and he had to be send to a madhouse. But he was telling the truth and luckily she woke up after she… died…. okay that sounds weird as if she came back to life.’ Ron said chuckling.
‘It was a wonder let’s keep it on that. I’m happy I could experience everything with you all and we all graduated, ready for the next step in our lives! I hope….’ Ron ended and everyone laughed and clapped.
‘Great speech.’ Hermione said smiling and her eyes were a little watery as she gave Ron a hug.
‘Thank you for the speeches.’ McGonagall said.
‘Now we’ll go further. When I say your name you’ll come forwards.’ McGonagall said.
