I get on the plane and take my seat, I get out my laptop and write an email to Cavanaugh it says
Cavanaugh,
Sir I am sending you this email to say I am leaving the Boston Police Department effective immediately. I will be unable to work and will not be coming in.
Detective Jane Rizzoli.
I press the send button just before we are told to put all electronic devices away as we are taking off.
The plane takes off and I think about all I am leaving behind and if I should have said a proper goodbye but they would want to know why I am leaving and I don't want them to know so I guess it was better not to.
I think about how things will change now as I have advanced training for the next month with a group of top new recruits before we go to Afghanistan to fight in the war.
