Not Anymore [Book One]

I opened my eyes to utter darkness.
My head hurt like hell and my body ached.
I tried to focus on something but I couldn't.
I stood up and felt a body next to me.
I shook it.

"Mmmm...."

Kirstie...!

"Kirstie wake up. It's me, Scott."

"Scott...?" She frowned. "Where am I?"

"I don't know. It's really dark here and-"

Suddenly, all the lights came on and I blinked.
We were in a small, brightly lit room.

I took Kirstie's hand. "Who's There?" I yelled.

"Ahhh. I guess everyone's awake." A familiar
voice rang out from out the room. I banged at the walls. "Helllo?!!"

The room shot upwards suddenly and I tumbled into my best friend. She held me.
She was obviously scared, but she didn't show.

The room shot up and up until it stopped.

Silence.

Then the walls slid open and it revealed a HUGE GINORMOUS place. I stepped out and looked around. There were the same rooms I was in on each side of the place. I saw Alex come out of one of them with a girl at his side.
I saw Avi and Kevin and all my friends.
They were here too.

I counted the moving/elevator rooms. All twelve of them. They each had the word
DISTRICT 1 or DISTRICT 2 and stuff.

Me and Kirstie were DISTRICT 12.

District 12...where have I heard that before?

"HELLLO KIIIIDDDDDS!" The familiar voice boomed. There were speakers and cameras everywhere. I blinked.

"IT'S TRAVIS STOLL!YOUR FRIEND!!"

Oh
The voice belonged to Travis.
This didn't seem too great.

"WELL YOU GUYS ALL KNOW THE HUNGER GAMES, RIGHT?" Kirstie stared at me.
"The novel?" She asked.

"I think so." I said.

"WELL THIS IS THE HUNGER GAMES LIVE!"

I froze. "What?"

"YOU GUYS ARE GOING TO PLAY A LITTLE GAME MY GAMEMAKERS MADE. THE HUNGER GAMES IN REAL LIFE. AND IT WILL BE SHOWN ALL OVER THE COUNTRY!"

The hunger games included constant dying.
That couldn't be true.

"YES AND YOU SEE THE DISTRICTS? I'M GOING TO READ THE PARTICIPANTS TO YOU."

An electric screen appeared infront of each district. It showed us pictures of the players and what district they were in.

Kirstie let out a gasp.

The screen faded. I stared in utter shock.

"This is a joke, right?" A voice called out.Tyler.

"NOPE. AND ONLY ONE DISTRICT SURVIVES!
THE GAME ENDS ONLY WHEN THERE'S ONE DISTRICT LEFT."

Then I can't save Mitch.

If I was going to survive, I had to let Mitch die. Not just Mitch, everyone.

Oh crap.
