Rose

Jayvon and I have been together for some months now, we haven't had sex yet but I love being in his company.

At work, I have befriended the new guy Landy. Landy is a tall, light brown-skinned, fine as hell brother who was looking for companionship. Trisha said he looked familiar but never met him before he came to the company.

"Rose, can I ask you a question?" Landy asked. It is our lunch break, so we are eating in the cafeteria.

"Sure." Landy looked at me.

"Do you have a man?"

"Yes, I do." Disappointment flashed in his eyes.

"He must be a very lucky guy. I hope he's treating you well."

"Yes. Jayvon treats me like a queen." I saw mixed emotions flashed over Landy's face but he quickly hid it.

"Well, this Jayvon better hold on to what he got before someone take you away." Where did that come from? I think I heard a tinge of jealousy in his voice but I'm not sure. Landy and I continued to talk about random things for the rest of our lunch break.

Seven months later, Jayvon and I are still together. I refused to live with Jayvon without a ring, so he bought me a spacious two-bedroom apartment which I'm sharing with Trisha. Joshua and Trisha are still together and are planning to get married. Trisha is two months pregnant and Joshua wants them to be married so the child will have his name. Landy and I are close friends now, but Jayvon sounds jealous when I talk about him.

Tonight Jayvon is taking me on a date. I think I'm in love with Jayvon. The only thing that concerns me is his way of living. Whenever I ask what he does for a living, he always tells me not to worry but I've heard some things on the street. Someone is knocking on my door, it's a little early for it to be Jayvon so I smooth out my strapless black mini dress and answered the door.

"Landy?" I never told Landy where I lived so how did he find me?
