Thinking Back On It

Thinking back to the attack where Annabeth went missing, I think to myself Why did it have to be a spider? She honestly could've stood a chance if it wasn't a spider.

And then I realize; that was the point. Spiders are basically Annabeth's one weakness. If Kronos didn't send a giant, humungous one, then what was the point?

And the hellhound was only a diversion. Kronos WANTED us separated. The spider was the perfect weapon for Annabeth. The hellhound was meant for me to fight so I didn't notice her. But how could I not? She's my Wise Girl, I don't just ignore her.

Speaking of which, I also can't ignore this "quest". I only have three days. I can't sleep. I'm not going to sleep. I need to find her. Nothing else matters.

I walk over to the giant hole that's in the middle of the ground.

"Here goes nothing." I mumble, and I add, "Hope you're down there, Annabeth."

I sigh.

Kronos's deal repeats in my head, over and over. Three days.... Just three days.....

I can hear roaring down there. Monsters. Lots of them. That means Kronos must be down there. That only means one thing; Annabeth is there too.

I sigh again. And I jump. And I start falling.
