Some Essences are rare, some are much more common. About fifty percent of the population are born Wielders, meaning they have a native Essence that runs through their blood and keeps them Energized with their power. The other fifty percent are Humans, no native Essence, but are looked at with equal respect and wonder by the Wielders as they look at them.
There are Essences that are extremely rare and either existed long long ago or not at all, documentation on them simply being by experimentation or theory that reigns true. There are five Essences that are rarer than any others, and this would be Ghost, Vigori, Machinist and Magician. Monster, the fifth one, is not necessarily rare, but hard to extract or use and the Essence itself can sometimes take a toll on its Wielder.
Due to these Essences being rare, there will always be people who want to extract them and steal them for their own use or simply kill their Wielders for shits and giggles.
