Sometimes I wish I was a human. All nations do. I wish I could grow old, live my life without watching the humans I love die. But if I was human, I'd have died before Kiku was even born.
I'm centuries older than him. To me, a century is like just a year. To a human it's a lifetime, more than that, even. If I were a human, born, as I was, sometime in the 6th century BC, and Kiku a human born in the 7th century AD, the give-or-take 1100 years between us would mean we'd never have met.
I think I would take near-immortality over not being able to know Kiku my entire life.
