Freedom

I've learned that even freedom has limits.

I bought numerous one-way plane tickets,

But old memories echoed through my mind.

I can't escape you; with you, I'm confined.

To the very edge of the world, I fled;

But I still heard your soft voice in my head.

You, my love, tied my hands behind my back

Your heart was the only thing I did lack.

But you took mine, you took my longing heart.

And then Death did asunder us apart,

Leaving me with a scar; I can't forget.

Free, but not free of this awful regret.
