3 AM

36 8 3

There's something quite alluring about

The time of three o'clock in the morning.

I am so utterly fascinated by

This stillness, the serenity, the quietness.

I have found that 3 AM is the best time for thinking.

I am alone, in my thoughts, in my consciousness.

Nobody else is awake; the streets are barren,

Except for the dull, amber light of old street lamps

That guide me through silent neighborhoods

Filled with sleeping people who are missing

The best and most enticing hour of the day.

Anything can happen at 3 AM because

It is this time in which the monstrosity

Of my true self awakens.

And my heart, mind, and hands

Become those of a darker, but wiser soul.

My mind becomes a darker

And more dangerous place.

It wanders to moments from years ago

That I am so desperate to forget.

It hums to life with raw

Thoughts, ideas, and plans

That are nothing less than extraordinary.

Because the allure of 3 AM awakens

My darker, but wiser soul that sleeps during the day.
