Alone.
The thought of being alone scared me to death.
I hated the thought of walkers coming and eating me with no one to help. I hated that if a stranger found me I could get raped. I hated that even if I had someone it could happen anyways.I tried not to think of bad things but it was hard.
Because once your in a bad world with everything and everyone bad, that's all you can think about.I was alone all my life. I was in and out of foster homes. I just happened to run away and get free on the same day of the zombie apocalypse.
I've never had a Mom or Dad or family. I've never had the feeling of a true family. Not even experienced or thought of it actually being real.So there was nothing there for me to live.
But I wanted to stay and live because I was truly finally free. I was free to go wherever, anytime, and whenever I wanted too. Which made me some what happy.
I looked up from my feet as I watched the leaves shuffle and make noises. I noticed a flashlight. It was pitch black outside.
I furrowed my eyebrows and hid behind a tree and just stared.I followed the flashlight until the sun came up.
The person was a man because I could tell by his arms. The muscularness. He was short so it made me wonder about his age.
I tried to step closer but arms grabbed me making me scream instantly.
"Hey! Hey, it's okay." A man said.I grabbed my gun.
"Back off, don't touch me." I said.
The man with the beard put his hand up.
"Dad??" I heard a voice.
The other man came from around the tree.
I looked at him and instantly went into another world. He froze and stared."Both of you back away, or-or-I'll shoot!" I screamed.
"We're not gonna hurt you." The older man said.
"That's what they all fucking say." I said cocking the gun.
"Hey listen." The younger boy said.
I looked at him and he had his hand out trying to calm me down."We have a place. With tons of people. Kids, adults. It's surrounded by gates and there's tons of houses. You can come. You can live there and have a group... Maybe even a family." He said looking at me.
I looked at him not sure.
His blue eyes told me everything would be okay.
I shook my head.
The boy looked at his dad just completely worried.
"I don't want to leave you out here, you don't need to get hurt so just come with us. You can keep the gun on us until we get there. You will see it's okay then you can decide.. Okay?" The younger boy asked.
I gulped then nodded. I guess his 'Dad' just looked at him like he was insane.
He smiled as they walked and I followed pointing my gun. I put my backpack back on as I trailed behind them. Sooner or later after tons of walking we arrived infront of a fence.
Small noiseless gun shots went off and hit walkers around us. I looked up to see a lady with short brown hair above the fence.
She smiled at me and I smiled back. The gates opened and I lowered my gun instantly.
Tons of kids were chasing each other and laughing. A few boys were sitting on steps and talking. They both locked eyes with mine.
A few little kids were drawing chalk and giggling. A smile went on my face slowly. The younger boy smiled at me.
"Rick she's been crying, I can't get her to go to sleep." A lady with blonde hair said as she walked up to that older man.
Rick?
The man took the baby in his hands and I instantly knew that this place would be okay.
"Aw who's this?" The lady asked.
Both of them looked at me since I hadn't said my name yet."Maci.." I said with a small smile.
"Well hi, I'm Jessie." She smiled opening her arms.
I was confused but then she just hugged me. My eyes went huge and I hugged back.
I felt like I was in a dream. It didn't feel real at all.She pulled away and smiled at me.
She then walked off towards the 2 boys on the steps. They smiled at me and Jessie told them to come inside.
"So are you staying...Maci?" The younger boy raised an eyebrow."Yeah." I nodded.
Let's hope this place isn't gonna be that bad.
