Where are they? (Book 1)

Chapter 14

Jewel's P.O.V.

"I can't kill him. He's a stupid god." I growl

"What god?" Riley asks

"Erebus." I say and glare at the shadow as I lean against Mason

"Guys, camp is over the hill." Ben says

"Get them to camp Beauregard." I say as I get out of Mason's arms

"Not without you." He says

"I'll be right behind you." I tell back and start to back up

I hear them start to run. I feel somebody take my hand and pull me after them. I try to chase after them and stumble a couple times.

"I told you, we aren't leaving you behind again." Ben yells

"I would have been right behind you." I say

"No you wouldn't have been. I know my best friend. You would have gotten yourself killed." He says

"If it was the only way to get you guys to camp, then of course I'm going to get myself killed." I say as we run into camp

He looks over as Chiron, Mason, and Silena help Soniey and Riley. He pulls me into one of the clearings that me and him used to hang out at all the time.

"Okay, what's going on? You have never wanted to die this much before." He asks

"Its just now that I'm back at camp, I can't do it. Not without Luke. And if I die, I could be with Luke again." I say as tears come to my eyes

"Hey, look at me." He says and lifts my chin up "Don't think like that. Luke wants you to live your life to the fullest. He wants you to have a family. And he only killed himself to save the world cause he knew you would stay behind and take care of your guy's mother."

"But I can't do it. I have had to do it for over two years, not even knowing he was freaking dead until 3 months ago." I say

"Look how far you two are now. You have been able to help your mother along with it just fine." He says

I nod, "Fine. I won't try to get myself killed as often as I have been. And I will try to survive in every fight I have."

"Good." He says

He pulls me into a hug and just holds me there for a while. I let out a sigh of relief.
