Sincerely, Your Neighbor in the Stars

"I love you."

You don't let me say it often enough.

Two uttering of three useless words under my breath,

Do nothing to contain this rising tide of tears,

This beautiful little bubble of joy, so desperate to be popped by your hand.

But I'm okay.

Honestly, I'm more than okay.

For my eyes still shine with the light of a thousand stars,

Every time you look at me,

Their light, from billions of years away, still glitters tenaciously.

Facetiously.

I still smile like an idiot every time something reminds me of you.

In short, I never stop smiling.

My crimson lips still whisper the happy promise: "It will all be well."

And you can't help but smirk at the hope in my voice,

At the unwavering, audacious, and sometimes childish light,

That flows from my never-ending lighthouse of hope,

Never blinking, never faltering.

I still laugh, for the sake of seeing your eyes crinkle up; seeing your teeth,

Sparkle white as pearls.

Because this is love.

The smile that dances across my cheeks,

Like a deer prancing through a red tulip bed.

This is love.

And no matter the hardships,

No matter the tears.

I am still happy,

Simply for the fact that God was gracious enough to let me know such a man as you.
