Chapter 11: Minicat?

Jonathan's POV
I welcome darkness like I welcome an old friend. Darkness is what pulled me through the torturous probing and cutting needles of the lab. Darkness helped me heal, and eventually gained a voice.

Soon the name "Delirious" contained a deeper meaning, something more than just my laugh. It's the name of the voice that turns me into a complete monster. A monster 10 times stronger than me, with rapid healing, and a dangerous attitude. One minute, I know what's going on, the next minute, Delirious takes over completely, and I sit in the darkness silently hoping no one I like has been killed.

The feeling of being in motion and a warm body against mine, along with the sound of footsteps rouse my conscious. When I peel my eyes open, I'm facing Evan, his arms wrapping around my body, my paws resting against his chest. Paws, being carried... Delirious? I scramble suddenly, freaking out Evan as I fall from his grasp, landing on a concrete sidewalk. Did I kill anybody besides KK? Is anybody hurt? Did I hurt anybody? I pace frantically, becoming more concerned by the minute. Fingers run down my sides before I'm lifted up again, and I whine and squirm trying to break free.
"Jonathan calm down, what's wrong?" Evan's smooth voice questions as he firmly holds me in place. I gaze up at him with mixed emotions, and he gets the hint, gently placing me back onto the cool surface. I finally notice the dark sky, which means that at least I wasn't out very long.

I allow the familiar ripple of shivers run throughout my body as the fur and tail disappear, and my ears transform into human ones. I cautiously open my mouth, and at first appearance everyone looks ok, but I'm not risking it.
"I didn't do anything really bad right? Besides killing KK, I mean." I anxiously fidget, and Tyler gives me a look.
"Besides acting crazy and trying to eat Evan, no, no one was hurt by you and we are all fine." He smirks at me, and I gasp.
"Delirious tried to eat Evan?!" I cry out in disbelief, and feel the colour flooding to my cheeks. Evan laughs nervously beside me.
"Ignore Tyler, he's being an ass. All you did, or Delirious did, is sniff me, which was odd but whatever." His cheeks are tinged a light pink, but the colour fades quickly.
"You." He points at me with a firm and demanding voice, leaving me backing away nervously.
"What the hell were you thinking? Trying to take on the lab by yourself, knowing full well they can't be trusted. I was worried sick about you, and we couldn't find you anywhere!" He rants, and I mumble apologies.
"Yeah, where were you hiding?" Lui pitches in, curious.
"In the front yard, by the big tree the entire time." I eventually reply.
"Bullshit, we checked there." Brian protests, and I shake my head at his claim.
"Nope." I pop the "p". "I was definitely there." I confirm, and Mini begins shaking his head.
"Lies." He announces, and I sigh dramatically.
"Here, I'll show you." Thank god the moon is out, casting enough shadows for me to perform my demonstration.

I finally choose Craig's shadow, to freak him out. I step on it, and everyone is looking around completely lost. Like falling in water, I sink into his shadow with ease, completely erasing my presence.
"What the hell?!" Mini squeaks, eyeing his shadow up and down, trying to locate me as I watch from the opposite end, giggling. I only raise one hand out, performing a piece sign, earning a few chuckles and impressed noises. I then hoist myself up completely, and hop from his shadow with ease.

Brian's jaw is dropped, and I bow for added effect.
"That is how I hid." I conclude, and it startles me when hands wrap around my waist, and I'm being pulled into someone's chest.
"Thank god you're okay." Vanoss breathes out, his breath rushing past my ear as he rests his chin on my shoulder.
"Of course I am." I whisper and relax in his embrace, enjoying the reassurance that I'm not alone.
