The Bookshop

Prologue

It was a normal day for me again. Sitting down in the small bookshop down the road and staying until it was time for me to leave. Not much people went here and that was a good thing because I like reading books with soft indie rock music playing and no noise.

The owner of this place doesn’t mind me staying here as long as I go here every day to keep the place up and running. The bookshop stays and I enjoy reading and doing everything in here. Fair enough.

I was in the middle of cramming all of my homework when I noticed a boy who was sitting across from me. He wasn’t really a familiar face around here, so it was kind of weird seeing him. He noticed me staring and said, “Oh, I’m sorry. Was I bothering you?”

“No. Not at all. It’s just that I don’t see you come here. So it’s kind of new.” I say. The boy smiles and holds out a hand. “Um…I’m Calum.”

“Jessie. Nice to meet you.” I say and shake his hand. “So, what brings you here?” I ask.

“I just need to write some songs but my bandmates we’re too noisy.” He says. I nod my head and go back to finishing my homework for the day.
