One of the most common differences between traditional bullying and cyber bullying is the fact that victims can be bullied anytime and anywhere. Sometimes, they will not even be aware of who the bully might be. As social media influences anyone and everyone, not many people respect the idea of it. Social media's initial idea was to connect people. However, bullying online has created a constant fear of 'connecting with the world'. Now, instead of connecting with people, victims have been subjected to emotional and mental harassments from people they don't even know. Therefore, this bullying has resulted in depression, self-harm, frequent nightmares, lack of enjoyment in activities that are otherwise enjoyable, and avoiding to be a part of other social groups. It might also increase the risk of suicide. But some cyberbullies take this harshness to the next level by insulting one's family. This has happened to many children, I know. When this happens, the victims feel uneasy and try to defend themselves and their family. Some experts say that it's better to let it be because, maybe the bullies wanted the reaction to threaten you more. It's not good to ignore either. What experts believe is, that one must report it. The 'victims' may think, "Oh yeah, what will the 'cyber-police' do?". Believe me, reporting the bullying does help. So, join hands to stop this harassment by spreading the word, because you might be the next victim.
