It was time for bed and as I made my way back to my room, I began to feel the weakness in my body from the training. I calculated that if I went to bed the moment I got to my room, I'd get a good seven hour rest. It was enough to feel energetic again and perform at my best during the competition.

I moaned as I closed my bedroom door and leaned against it. Even if I performed at my best, I still didn't know if I would be good enough to beat Titus. And if I lost, the Prince would be upset and hate me.

A knock at my door caused me to jump away from it. Who wanted to speak at such a late hour? I hesitantly turned the knob, hoping it wasn't the King.

Surprisingly, it was Luca's maid. She glanced at me with a small smile and bowed. "Luca would like to speak with you in his room. Would you like me to escort you there?"

"Right at this moment?" I asked and she nodded in response as her white curls bounced softly. What could he have wanted with me at such a late hour? And then it dawned on me, I'd never responded about the missing book. We still had much to discuss.

"Very well," I nodded and followed her out of my room. So much for a seven hour, peaceful rest. I had a feeling my conversation with Luca may be quite lengthy. I was going to tell him to forget about the stone and the books.

Luca opened his door with a tight smile, stood aside for me to enter, and turned to his made. "That'll be all, Lyra," he told her, and shut the door.

I walked around his room, taking in the view.

The room was small, with just a bed, but I supposed it was just how Luca would've wanted it

The room was small, with just a bed, but I supposed it was just how Luca would've wanted it. He moved past me and stood next to the window in his room.

"Sorry to call on you so late, Lady Anya." I could tell from the worry lines on his forehead that he had been dealing with stress. "I thought perhaps you were upset with me and that was why you hadn't responded."

"No, I..." I almost told him that I was with the Prince, training. "...was in the stables. Did you know there are wolves?"
