Chapter Three - Broken Home by 5 Seconds Of Summer

"Hey mom, hey dad. When did this end? When did you lose your happiness? I'm here alone inside of this broken home."

It was already the end of the day, or the school day. Katherine really wanted to visit her mom when walking home, but was a little freaked out knowing something took the liver of another, but she visited her anyway. After her visit it was already dark, and she knew her aunt would be freaking out if she wasn't home soon.

Walking along the sidewalk, Katherine stuffed her hands into the pockets of her coat. Aside from eating she has a lot of homework to finish the rest of the night, probably up until midnight.

About to walk past one of the houses, suddenly she felt a new emotion overcome her. She felt scared. Powerless. Helpless. Looking around, she looked through the window of the house that shown light. Looking through the window, bending down to get a good angle, Katherine saw something along the lines of two figures sitting at a table eating diner. Squinting her eyes, she made out that the person at one end of the table was... Issac's father. So that means Issac is sitting at the other end. Oh gosh, I feel like a stalker. But who's scared?

Still looking through the window, Katherine saw Mr. Lahey throw something at the floor, shattering it. Then soon, he even slid his food and plate to the ground, more things shattering. Katherine eyes widened, watching Issac fall back somewhere she couldn't see. Oh crap, what should I do? She then saw Mr. Lahey about to throw something else at him.

Running to the door, and twisting the knob, Katherine heard the sound of something else breaking. Acting quickly she flung the door open, wondering why it wasn't locked, and ran inside, standing in front of Issac to protect him. "Stop!" she yelled loudly, then glanced at Issac noticing something under his eye.

She bent down, trying to help him. "Oh my gosh." she said to herself, noticing a piece of glass had cut him. She watched as he pulled it out, wincing.

"Well that was your fault." she heard Mr. Lahey said.

Issac stood up, and Katherine did as well, but Isaac stood in front of her this time. "You could've blinded me."

"Shut up." Mr. Lahey responded, annoyed. "Shut up! It's a scratch! It's hardly even-" Katherine looked at Issac when Mr. Lahey didn't finish his sentence. Looking at his cut, Katherine noticed how if was fading, or disappearing. It was... healing.

As it finally healed and was gone, Issac bolted out the door grabbing Katherine's hand to bring her as well. "Issac!" Katherine just kept running, following Issac. They were far from where they previously were, and Katherine's chest was starting to hurt. She's never actually wanted to run so bad, but that changed during this moment. While still holding onto Issac's hand, she then put the pieces of the puzzle together. The whole black eye wasn't lacrosse, it was his dad. It saddened her, knowing that was the reason. But knowing that Issac was holding her hand, made her feel warm on the inside. Considering it was pouring down on them, her hand still felt warm.

Whilst running, they took various turns, soon turning into an alley. Isaac pulled her into a hidden hiding place, it was like a mini alley in a alley, except very tiny. Entering the tiny space was awkward for Katherine. She can practically feel and hear every time the boy above her breathed. Katherine couldn't explain how fast her heart was beating, she couldn't also explain how much she's slightly shaking from how cold it was. Though knowing Issac was still holding onto dear life to her hand calmed her done, relieving her, and of course, warming her. Their bodies and faces were so close, that Katherine had to stare at the ground just to not make it even more awkward than it has to be.
