I can't date til out of high school.

Dear alex,

So theres this guy i REALLY like. Like seeiously, butterflies i. The stomach whenever i see him lol. Weve become somewhat friends and im getting that vibe that he likes me. And i like him back! The only problem is, is that my parents wont let me date until im outta highschool and i dont want to go behind their back and date. But what if he asks me out? If i say no we might never talk again! :( and if he asks me to the dance my parents will let me go but in their mind, going to a dance with a boy means nothing, when really it basically means your dating. So if i go to the dance with him, theres that awkward part where i tell him that were only going as friends but i dont wanna be just friends:( WHAT DO I DO?! :(

Dear Hoplessness, 

I say, that if he asks you out, then let him meet the parents. Tell your parents before hand though that you like him and that you want to go out with him. Compromise with them but if you don't want to go through this then your going to have to tell the guy that you can't date right now because of your parents and yada yada and hope that he understands. But I'd still go and let him meet your parents and stuff just as friends first so then they can warm up to him and then go on from there.
