This Is Just Temporary

"So, what're you planning on become when you grow up?" Kate asks Rayan. My phone buzzes in my lap yet again, and I end the call.
"A doctor, like Apps." Rayan says, snatching a fry from my plate. I pout and smack his hand.
"Stop stealing my food!" I scold Rayan and move the plate away from him. "I'm never sitting next to you again."
"A doctor? That takes a lot of hard work, and...it's a waste of time, Rayan. Why do you want to become a doctor?" Kate says, furrowing her brows.
"Because I want to save peoples lives, like Apps wants to. I want to own a huge hospital that's for animals, and humans." Rayan explains. "That's my dream."
"That's nice, but you'll have to work very hard." Gregg says, stealing a fry from my plate. What is with the people around me, who love stealing food from my plate? My phone buzzes again and I huff. Why doesn't Harry get the message and stop calling? It's not like he has a problem finding women who want to throw themselves at him. He can call that girl he was with last night. Tears sting the corners of my eyes. I shut them, and squeeze them tight. I will not cry again, definitely not in this restaurant, while I'm surrounded by my friends and family. I switch off my phone and divert my attention to a conversation that Gregg and Amaan are having.
"...yeah, I've thought about it." Amaan says, me clearly having missed out the former part of the sentence.
"Mus, is something wrong?" Sophia asks, her gaze landing on me. I don't know how she does it, but she knows when I'm upset, or when something's worrying me.
"No," I say hastily. "A friend just wanted some notes." She looks at me for a few seconds and then nods her head.
"We'll talk later." Sophia says it so quietly that I almost miss it. However, I didn't and this time she will not let me off the hook. All day I've been avoiding her inquisitive questions. But I can't avoid them forever. Sophia's friend had to rush her cat to the vet. That's why she wasn't there last night. She contacted Sophia in the morning, and told her that she and the boys can come over. However, I insisted that they stay with me. After all, I need all the distraction that I can get.
"Mus, I'm coming from the bathroom." Kate says, getting up. I nod my head. Her phone rings in her hand, as she's making her way toward the bathroom. Hastily, Kate answers it and if I'm not mistaken, I hear her say Liam. This girl and her stubborn nature.

"Apps, when do we get to talk to the famous Harry Styles?" Rayan asks, stealing yet another fry from my plate.
"He's...pretty busy." I say, more like mumble. "Rayan, don't look forward to it."
"You guys are having a fight!" He exclaims, slapping his palm against the table. "Apps, tell me the reason, so that I can tell my friends and this will skyrocket my status." I wish I felt that excited regarding Harry and my breakup. But I don't want to explain this to Rayan, or anyone for that matter. Heck, I can't even talk to Harry and tell him we're over.
"Rayan, learn to shut up." Sophia says, glaring at her younger son.
"Sorry, mom." Rayan mumbles, looking down. I place my hand over his and squeeze it.
"Mus, can I steal you for a minute?" Kate says, leaning over my chair.
"Sure," I say. I get up and let her guide me. Kate leads me out of the restaurant and toward the curb, where a bookstore is situated. However, instead of entering it, she stops right outside the store's door, and turns to face me.
"What're you doing?" Kate asks, crossing her arms across her chest. I raise an eyebrow questioningly. "Why aren't you talking to Harry? Liam called and said that Harry's been going insane, trying to contact you."
"What's there to say to him? Nothing," I shrug my shoulders. "Kate, you could've told Liam why I'm not picking up Harry's calls or answering his texts."
"But I don't want to. Sure, you guys haven't been dating for long and you broke up with him in record time. But the guy deserves an explanation as to why you aren't acknowledging his texts, or calls."
"He doesn't deserve any explanation, Kate! I can't believe you're on his side," I say. I raise my hands in the air and then drop them against my thighs with a thud.
"I'm not, Mus!" Kate exclaims. "I'm not."
"Well, it sure as hell seems like it. I'm going back into the restaurant, and I don't want to hear about Harry, or Liam, or any of the boys for the whole night." I turn on my heels and march back toward the restaurant. Harry's calling, so answer his calls! I can't believe what Kate's saying. She knows just how hurt I felt when I saw those photos and read those articles. I've been received so many emails regarding Harry and another girl over the past few weeks. However, I believed none of them because there was no proof. But the article that Gregg and Kate showed me last night did have proof. Proof that broke my heart. I can't bear the thought of hearing Harry's voice again, or seeing his face. He turned out just like my ex-boyfriend, who is a jerk, a lying bastard and an ass.

"Gregg, your phone's ringing!" I yell. "Pick the damn thing up, so that I can watch the movie in peace."
"Coming!" Gregg yells from upstairs. "Amaan and I are making a helicopter!" Rolling my eyes, I lean over toward the table and answer the phone, without seeing the caller id.
"Finally, Gregg! I thought you're ignoring me on purpose. Did you speak to Mus, yet?" Liam says, before I can even say hello.
"Liam, Gregg's not here, so stop calling." I say, disgusted at the tone of Liam's voice. Ever since he's been having an affair with Kate, I've started to dislike him. I can't stand men who cheat and I don't think anyone should.
"Mus! Mus, listen up!" Liam says hastily. "Please, hear me out for five minutes." Huffing, I end the call and switch off Gregg's phone. I'm in no mood to hear anything in favor of Harry and I know that Liam will defend Harry and say that I should call him. Kate told me that she explained to Harry the reason why I'm mad. However, she didn't tell him that I have ended our relationship. Maybe I should message Harry and just tell him that I've broken up with him. Yeah, that's what I should do. Biting the inside of my cheek, I take out my phone from my back-pocket, and click on the message icon.
'Stop calling me, and everyone else. Stop worrying the people around us, Harry. I don't want to see your face ever again, or speak to you. We're done.' Without thinking twice, I send the message because I know if I think this over, I won't send the damn message.
'Bump, please just answer my call. Let's talk, please.' A reply comes instantaneously. Right after the message, my phone starts to ring and the screen lights up with Harry's name and face.
"Harry, stop calling! Leave me alone." I say, as soon as I answer the phone.
"Bump, Bump! Listen, please. I didn't cheat on you. I'm not a cheater," Harry says. Scoffing, I end the call. I click on Harry's contact, and then my finger hovers over the block button. Inhaling a deep breath, I press the button. That's it. Harry's disappeared from my life for good. However, I feel that he isn't gone for good. This is just temporary.
