“You can’t keep me away from my son Neveah!” Dawayne yelled into the reciever.

Neveah sighed deeply. This was the fourth call that she had with Dawayne and the conversation was going in circles. She was tired of hearing his voice none stop about how he wanted to see Rory. She went over so many times why Rory wasn't going with him but it wouldn't get through his thick skul. Nothing new.

"For the last time,” she begun. “This is not me. Rory doesn’t want to spend time with you right now Dawayne. Unless your wife is gone he would be happy to speed time with his father but no. He doesn’t want to be in a room with her right now.”

“Neveah I’m coming over there and getting my son,” Dawayne barked. “I haven’t seen him in weeks. Kennicia did nothing to Rory he’s just over exaggerating. He was disobeying his step mother so she’s popped him to put him in place. He needs to grow up.”

She rose from the bed and went to the dresser. Neveah opened the drawer and grabbed one of Phillips T-shirt.

“He’s six years old,” Neveah berated him, throwing the T-shirt on the bed, "and for you to take her side over his is ludicrous. Rory has never been bad or gave me trouble since the day he was born.”

“I’m coming over to get my son and that’s final!” Dawayne yelled into the receiver and then hung up before Neveah could tell him no.

Neveah put her phone down and then turned to Phillip who was changing out of his work clothes to get comfortable. She didn’t have to go in to work today but he had a very important business meeting to tend to and he took Rory to school. When he got home, Neveah had already made dinner for them so all she had to do was serve their meal.

During their meal of pot roast, garlic red potatoes and mix vegetables, her phone started to ring. Now she only wished that she hadn't picked up the phone realizing that it was nobody but Dawayne, calling to get his way like always.

“Babe, I really don't want Rory to go back to his house with that bitch,” Neveah said to Phillip.

Phillip looked at how troubled Neveah was letting Rory go back over there to Dawayne’s house. Hell he was worried about him going over there with them and knew Rory was scared to leave. One thing he didn't want was to force Rory to see his father.

“Well, sweetheart why don't you go talk to Rory and  see what he think about going back and go from there.”

Nevaeh thought about what Philip had said and how right he was. She went out of the room and headed across the hall to Rory’s room.

When Neveah walked into his room he was playing “Super Mario”, he was so into it that he didn't notice Neveah come into his room.

“Rory sweetheart I need to ask you something,” Neveah told him as she sat down on his twin size bed.

Rory put down his game and looked up at his mom, “Okay ma.”

“I wanted to know if you would like to go to your father’s house?” Neveah asked her son. She looked into to his eyes and body language for any type of response when she asked him.

Rory looked at his mother and realized she was serious. When he realized this this, little lip jutted out and started to tremble. The first sign that told Neveah that he was going to cry.

Neveah knew her baby so well before he even poked his lip out. She knew it was coming sooner or later.

"Ma, I.. dont.. wannnaaa.. gooo.,” Rory started to weep. He pleaded with his mother not to make him go.

“Shhhh baby, you don't have to go and I'm not going to make you go if you don’t want to,” Neveah  said this as she held Rory’s head to her chest hugging him comforting him.
